• Where: 10 Affiliates in 6 states, rural and urban settings, 52 middle and high schools

• Who: High-need students who are at risk of dropping out of school

• Key Components of CIS Mentoring Programs: school-based, community partnerships, integrated student services

• Goals: Engage parents, train mentors, develop and deliver match activities that correlate to desired outcomes

• Outcomes: Increase school attendance, increase GPA, decrease/prevent involvement with JJ system

Successful Matching

• Effective mentor recruitment

• Mentor training – orientation and ongoing

• One school-year commitment; once a week for one hour or four hours a month
