About

•  Communication is the transfer of information and some means of ensuring that what is sent is also received. Technology increases the ways in which information can be communicated, the speed of transmission, and the total volume that can be handled at any one time. Students need to experience firsthand how technology helps people communicate more information to more people in less time, with greater accuracy and fewer misunderstandings. In this brief lesson, students will try out a few innovative examples of communications technologies and explain how they transform patterns of sound or light into patterns of electricity.

Advantages & Disadvantages of Communication Technology

• Advantage: ConvenienceNew communication technology has made getting in touch tremendously convenient. You can send out a company-wide email from your cell phone. You can work from your pajamas at home and still be able to conference with your clients with Skype. This has made it very easy to get in contact with whomever, whenever.• Advantage: SpeedIn many cases, time is of the essence in communication. Fortunately, communication technologies allow you to pass along messages at lightning speed. This makes it easier to prevent major mistakes because of distance. Everyone can be in sync at once.• Disadvantage: Lack of ContextWhen you text or email, there's no vocal tone and you can't see facial expressions. As such, it is easy to misread a message that is intended to be sarcastic or not understand the severity of a situation. This can lead to major misunderstandings

Earliest Mode of Communication

When the modes of communication began to transmitting, at early stages, Pigeons were used to carry the messages over a long distances. They were specially trained to carry the message from any places to their homes.

Latest Mode of Communication

4G is the fourth generation of wireless mobile telecommunications technology, succeeding 3G. A 4G system must provide capabilities defined by ITU in IMT Advanced. Potential and current applications include amended mobile web access, IP telephony, gaming services, high-definition mobile TV, video conferencing, and 3D television

Latest Communication Technology Trends 2016

• Green communications is the practice of selecting energy-efficient communications and  networking technologies and products, and minimizing resource use whenever possible in all branches of communications.

• Molecular communications systems use the presence or absence of a selected type of molecule to digitally encode messages. The molecules are delivered into communications media such as air and water for transmission. The technique also is not subject to the requirement of using antennas that are sized to a specific ratio of the wavelength of the signal. Molecular communication signals can be made biocompatible and require very little energy.

• 5th generation mobile networks or 5th generation wireless systems, abbreviated 5G, are the proposed next telecommunications standards beyond the current 4G/IMT-Advanced standards. Rather than faster peak Internet connection speeds, 5G planning aims at higher capacity than current 4G, allowing higher number of mobile broadband users per area unit, and allowing consumption of higher or unlimited data quantities in gigabyte per month and user. This would make it feasible for a large portion of the population to stream high-definition media many hours per day with their mobile devices, when out of reach of Wi-Fi hotspots. 5G research and development also aims at improved support of machine to machine communication, also known as the Internet of things, aiming at lower cost, lower battery consumption and lower latency than 4G equipment.
