CONNECTING WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS Elected officials can be your greatest champion or not. A healthy partnership between agencies and elected officials at all levels of government is essential to fulfill transportation and infrastructure needs and maintain public trust. Agencies and elected officials are increasingly exposed to diverse and conflicting constituencies, messages, and politics, making it all the more important to build and maintain relationships. Whether as part of an advocacy program in your state capital or the halls of Congress, or as part of your community outreach plan – what are best practices and pitfalls of engaging with elected officials? Whether you work at the local, state or federal level, this session will help you find success navigating policy for the benefit of a shared constituency.
