Why (Company Name)?Be specific in why you want to work for acompany. You can not just copy and paste acompany name here from interview tointerview and have it make sense. Talk aboutreasons you are excited about companyculture, products or services, industry, values,investors, etc. Your interests should overlapwith the company and role on multiplelevels.

WHY SALES?Don't be afraid to say that you are financially motivated. Most people think youshouldn't talk about money in an interview, but you are interviewing for asales role so money should be a major motivator. You should have a reason forbeing financially motived and explain why. For example, I am an incrediblycompetitive person that excels in a metrics driven environment. This positionwould allow me to make the income needed to pay back my college loanswell ahead of schedule. Tell a story of when you first realized you wanted to bein sales, why you're the best candidate, and how you plan to succeed withyour skills. If you're applying for your first job don't be afraid to draw onexperiences you do have. Talk about the time you had a lemonade stand,helped with recruitment for your sorority or fraternity, or a class you took.

Why are you a good fit given their interests?How do you know you'll be successful sellingtheir product?What value or skills do you bring to the table?

Here you shouldacknowledge how youhave grown from yourexperience. Highlightyour ability to reflect,plan, and self-improve. No one isperfect and beingable to own up to yourvulnerabilities is askill.

Using the past, present, and future format to craft your response. Mentionyour past experiences and their success as it relates to the position you'reapplying for. Focus on your present job and strengths, utilizing yourpersonality to break the ice. If this will be your first job use experiences youdo have like classes you've taken, a sport you have played or a time youinterned with a company. Transition to the present by explaining how theposition you're applying for plays into your future goals. Your overall pitchshould be answered in about 90 seconds. This is often the question mostinterviewees struggle with so be prepared and practice how you'd like toanswer it.

In sales there is not a one size fits all solutionto working with customers. A properresponse to this question might includereading or listening to body language orcues of the person you're talking to. Thesituation might include that the customerhad a prior bad interaction with yourcompany. Your response would includelistening to the complaint and explaininghow you would have handled the situation.Showing empathy and offering a betterservice can have positive results.
