THE CARPAL TUNNEL
The human wrist was not made
to carry out repetitive tasks for
extended periods of time.
Using wrists repetitively
causes the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome,
which is like a traffic jam in the wrist. Located among the bones
and tendons of the wrist area, there is a major median nerve
that transfers signals to some of the small muscles of the hand.
This nerve also provides sensation to the thumb and first three
fingers.
Pain is caused by the inflammation of tendons, which crushes
the median nerve within the Carpal Tunnel.

STRESS
Nature has given us a 'fight or flight' response. The survival of primitive man depended on this response, which compensated for his limited understanding of the world. When faced with danger, primitive man, with his muscular tension and his brain alert, was immediately ready to fight the enemy or escape. Nowadays, the chances of meeting a wild animal are small, but the modern jungle is just so dangerous. We constantly face a variety of stressful situations for which the 'fight or flight' response may not be adequate. As the tension rises and ca not be released by fighting or escaping, the body gets into a state of readiness for nothing. It is this tension that is responsible for chronic stress. In the long term, stress may cause diseases such as skin rashes, insomnia, ulcers, high blood pressure and heart attacks.
HOW CAN YOU COMBAT STRESS?
DO eat a well-balanced diet containing plenty of fruit and vegetables. DO sleep at least eight hours a night and go to bed early. DO talk about your problems. DO NOT hold stress. Use exercise or a sport to let it flow out.

The Best Remedy
When you have watery eyes and a running nose, you sneeze a lot, and you use boxes of tissues, what’s the matter with you? Of course, you have a common cold. It makes you feel really uncomfortable. What is the best remedy? Some people go straight to the drugstore, and they buy lots of medicines. They buy aspirin, vitamin C, nose drops and cough syrup.
Other people prefer traditional home remedies like chicken soup, lemon tea or a mixture of hot milk and honey. Ginger tea is very popular in Asia.
Naturalists say they never catch colds because they are in constant contact with nature. In winter, when the weather is freezing, some of them go swimming in ice-cold water. They say, “Jump into a pool of cold water” because the shock clears the head.
Doctors usually say a cold lasts with treatment less than a week or more than eight days without it.
watery: like water. running nose: liquid coming down the nose. sneeze: a sudden noisy burst of air out through the nose and mouth.
