Dear Principals/Supervisors,

1. The Outstanding Pre-school Mother Tongue Language (MTL) Teacher Award, jointly organised by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee (MLLPC), and Tamil Language Learning and Promotion Committee (TLLPC), supported by Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) and National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC), aims to encourage more teachers to inspire the learning and use of MTL in our young children. To commend and give recognition to outstanding pre-school Mother Tongue Language (MTL) teachers, the MTL Promotion Committees – CPCLL, MLLPC and TLLPC are pleased to announce that the Outstanding Pre-school Mother Tongue Language Teacher Award is now open for nominations.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Nominees must be either Singapore citizens or Permanent Residents;

2. Nominees must be in-service Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA)-certified teachers or possess a Level 2 Letter of Notification (LON) and Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education-Teaching (DECCE-T) or equivalent early childhood qualifications;

3. Nominees must be teaching in ECDA-registered kindergartens, ECDA-licensed child care centres or ECDA-equivalent authority registered/licensed pre-schools.

4. Nominees must have at least 3 years of teaching experience teaching Mother Tongue Language in ECDA-registered kindergartens, ECDA-licensed child care centres or ECDA-equivalent authority registered/licensed pre-schools.

5. Past winners who have not received the award in the past 3 years may be nominated for the award again.

Award

Each award-winning teacher will receive a cash reward for professional development, a plaque and a certificate.

The decision of the selection panel is final and no further correspondence on its decision will be entertained.

Instructions for Nomination

1. Each kindergarten or child care centre can nominate only 1 teacher for each MTL.

2. Only nominations endorsed by the Centre Supervisor/Principal will be accepted.

3. Ensure that the nomination text illustrates the outstanding achievements of the nominee and provide clear evidence to support the nomination.

4. Each nominee is required to submit:

(a) Completed nomination form

(b) A detailed lesson plan using the template provided

(c) An unedited video clip of the lesson taught

(d) A write-up completed by nominee in the MTL they are teaching

(e) A copy of nominee’s Level 2 Letter of Notification (LON) and Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education-Teaching (DECCE-T) or equivalent early childhood qualifications

(f) A declaration by the nominee and the centre management that the nominee is not a winner of this award in the past 3 years (2016-2018).

5. Please restrict printed submission to only the nomination form, and not more than 10 A4 pages. All supporting materials to be digitalised and saved in CD format. Please also include a copy of the nomination form in CD format/USB Flash Drive.

6. Incomplete or late submissions will not be accepted.

7. All materials submitted will not be returned.

8. Shortlisted nominees will be notified to attend an interview and undergo a lesson observation at their current work place.

For each nomination, please submit 4 copies of the completed nomination form (printed) and 4 copies

of the supporting materials in CD format/USB Flash Drive (nomination form, video clips, and supporting evidence). These are to be mailed to:
