Commission 1 Resolutions.Economic Hubs

• Support the provincial program on economic hubs and resolve to fast track the release of land in ward 23 for the construction of the leather cluster on the following opportunities:– Agro processing.– Use of local leather from goats and sheep.

• Commit to the creation of the leather collection points in all wards/zones in Msunduzi using co-ops and small business.

• Facilitate training of leather preservation to ensure maximum value during skinning.

Aluminium Beneficiation Initiative.

• We commit to provide full support to the private sector for the aluminium beneficiation initiative.

• We hope to establish an aluminium processing zones within the municipality that would create 30 000 jobs in five years by utilising 100 tons of aluminium.

• We would sign an MOU with ABI with the view to mobilise support for the aluminium processing zones.

Tourism• We commit to create stability in the newly established

Tourism Agency by moving forward I n creating a permanent board that is fully resourced and representative.

• We commit to explore further opportunities in:– Indoor sport complex.– Event staff suppliers.– Accommodation.– Cultural Tourism.

• We commit to establish a Msunduzi Events Bureau in 6 months.

Commission 2 ResolutionsInfrastructure

1. Noting that the Business plan for the ICT Incubator has been completed, Msunduzi Municipality look into the various options to house the hub.2. That DEDTEA commits to present the rollout plan of the Broadband infrastructure, to the business community detailing opportunities for private sector investment.

3. Noting that the Municipality has approved the Master Plan for the PMB Airport, we commit to prioritizing the finalizing of plans for Phase 1, including the Technology Hub, and the identification of investment opportunities, which are to be shared ASAP.

4. Noting the economic opportunities that arise from the SIP2, and the fact that developments are currently focused on the N3 intersections, it is recommended that the municipality considers consolidating developments between the intersections on the N3.

Com 3 :RECOMMENDATIONS

• That Msunduzi Municipality fully commit on the Implementation of the SPLUMA;

• That Msunduzi ensures on implementing back-to-back Spatial Plans and that all strategic zones have local area plans, including Vulindlela;

• That a Spatially transformed Edendale with the implementation of the Strategic projects such as Edendale Town Centre and Educational Precinct;

• That we live no stone unturned to create a new design;

• That we invite private sector to take full interest on the Airport plan as well as Ethembeni precinct plan as this will yield an in investment of 2,2 Billion

• That the Municipality commit to finalise PDA Applications within 45 days after the closing date of the advert;

• That the Municipality commits to a turnaround period of not more than 30 days for the approval of the building plans, provided that building plans complies with all the legislations

• That the Municipality commit to establishing a one-stop-shop for all investment proposals to improve turnaround time and service delivery.
