Workspace Technology’s AccessFloor 600 is based on industry standard steel encapsulated access floor system panels which have been tested in accordance with the PSA MOB PS/SPU: 1992 and the newer BS/EN 12825:2001. Workspace Technology supplies panels from leading manufacturers including the Eurodek® product range.

Workspace Technology can provide bare panels or panels which are pre-finished with HPL, vinyl or carpet to suit customers individual architectural specifications. Floor panels are supported on adjustable steel pedestals which can be supplied to provide a range of floor voids up to 1500mm. Where the floor void is to act as an air plenum e.g. data centres the panel can be specified with a neoprene edge which helps seal the floor.

AccessFloor 600 Advantages

Under floor services are fully accessible ensuring easy maintenance and modifications to electrical, mechanical and I.T server throughout the life of the building.

Raised access floors provide a void for routing power and data cabling, HVAC systems and other building services. This facilitates future changes to layout and occupancy, provides relatively easy access for maintenance and allows installation of additional or upgraded services. Utilisation of the floor void for HVAC infrastructure instead of overhead can provide reduced slab-to-slab heights in multi-floor buildings.

AccessFloor 600 includes a wide range of standard and non-standard components and accessories to enable the most flexible and efficient floor designs.

Workspace Technology’s core offer is the design and build of data centres, with exceptional levels of expertise in the planning, installation and renovation of server room raised floors within data centre and communications room environments.

Workspace Technology Ltd will design the Raised Access Floor System to suit the rack and airflow containment layout.

Weight loadings within a data centre are often under-estimated, cabinets can weigh as much as 1500kgs and other equipment such as UPS for example can be considerably heavier, Workspace Technology Ltd will design the raised access floor to manage the type of weights now common in contemporary data centre’s

Workspace Technology is an approved installer for the EuroDek® Raised Access Floor Systems. The Eurodek® eTrim is a heavy grade, Anti-static gravity loose lay panel with a high density chipboard core which is ideally suited to data centre and server room project applications where a high load bearing support capacity is essential.

Covered in corrosion resistant galvanised steel, and with a fully integral heavy duty ‘T’ section protective PVC/ABS edge trim; the panels are highly robust, making them ideal for applications where regular access to the under floor void is required, for example, for data cable management, air conditioning, fire security and other equipment.

Heavy Grade eTrim has been fully tested with the Eurodek® HD and XD range of pedestals and achieves certification to PSA MOB PF2 PS/SPU — heavy grade, and is BSEN 12825 Class 6A3.

The panel is supplied as standard with a factory bonded hard wearing antistatic vinyl floor covering in steel grey. Other coverings are available to order.

In line with the requirements of TIA942 Workspace Technology Ltd will provide anti-static earthing of pedestals as an installation standard.

Our Bearer Acoustic Battens comprise softwood timber with a unique double density resilient fibre layer which provides exceptional impact sound reduction, for high load areas such as bathrooms, kitchens room perimeters or to support non loading partition walls our bearers are fitted with high density foam to reduce vertical deflection.

The softwood timber has either PEFC accreditation as standard or FSC on request.

We provide a range of overlay boards, including Knauf Brio and Danskin resilient board.

Brio

Knauf Brio is an engineered gypsum flooring panel with 60% recycled content, developed for use in new or refurbished residential and commercial buildings.

It is a robust, lightweight and quickly-installed dry screed system. Brio has a very high thermal conductivity (R = 0.38 W/mK) so heating response times are faster and energy consumption is reduced.

Once installed, Brio creates a rigid monolithic floor with a high density of 1100 Kgm3, and so reduces both impact and airborne sound transmission. With it’s dry installation process, Brio provides efficient timely deployment.

Danskin Acoustic Overlay

Danskin offer a range of acoustic resilient overlay boards. These boards can be used with a variety of sub-floor types. Sub-floor types include pre-cast concrete, cast in-situ concrete and timber floors. The acoustic resilient overlay boards can be used in Robust Detail and PCT applications. New build and refurbishment projects are both supported. Our overlay boards offer an effective route to Part E and Part 5 compliance.

Workspace Technology provides a wide range of timber species with different finishes, board widths and board construction to support both residential and commercial applications. Workspace Technology ensures that all of our timber is selected from sustainable managed forests. Timber flooring is available in engineered or solid board, in different thickness, board widths, stave patterns and surface finish to enable us to match your exact specifications.

Our Hardwood flooring system can be installed as a floating floor, glued down or secret nailed and can be fitted in conjunction with a range of under floor, acoustic, sports and heating systems.

Engineered Hardwood

Timber is a natural material, and timber floors very often suffer from movement. Workspace Technology offers a cross laminated engineered board, which reduces potential movement in the timber by up to 70%. The installation of engineered hardwood solutions result in a more stable floor. Generally boards are pre-finished removing the need for time consuming site finishing.

Traditional

Workspace Technology can also install unfinished timber strips that are sanded & sealed on site. Finishes that can be applied include oil, lacquer or traditional soaps & stains.

Timber Species

Timbers are only selected from sustainable managed forests ensuring valuable natural resources are not damaged. A range of standard timber species are readily available. Most timber species and grades can be sourced to suit project specific requirements.

Surface Treatments

Factory Finished Timbers can be provided eliminating the time consuming costly process to sand and seal the floor on site. Our pre finished treatments include:-

Oil - providing a silky matt finish

Lacquered - providing a gloss finish

Brushed - providing an aged finish

Colour Impregnated - providing for a customised finish

Board Widths

Modern production techniques help reduce wastage and therefore staves (wide plank) of random lengths are utilised to construct the finished board. Boards are available in single, two or three stave widths.

Grading

Hardwood is graded to display a particular range of naturally occurring characteristics. A wide choice of finished appearances can be achieved depending on its grade. This makes hardwood an ideal choice for modern, traditional or contemporary décor.

Board Thickness

Boards can range from 8.5mm which are ideal for overlay and refurbishment and up to 22mm which are ideal for sports and load bearing floors.

Method of Installation

There are a range of methods of that can be used for a hardwood floor installation.

Nailed- Boards are secret nailed to the underlying floor battens or joists, this method is ideal for forming load bearing floors. When combined with foam battens or a cradle under-structure, a secret nailed installation provides acoustic or sports performance capability.

Floating Floor - Boards glued together, or joined with an engineered joint, laid over a layer of foam or cork. A damp proof membrane can be installed if appropriate. This method is ideal for refurbishment and new build projects.

Glued Floor - Boards are fully adhered to the substrate. Glued construction is the preferred method when laying patterns, borders, complicated shapes and to reduce the requirement for expansion joints.

A full range of new build and refurbishment applications including residential, commercial, retail, sports and leisure sites can be provided by Workspace Technology.

When a high degree of resilience, shock absorption and friction characteristics are required this will be fulfilled by the deployment of Workspace Technology’s Hardwood Sports Flooring System. Workspace Technology sports floors conform to BSEN14904: 2006 - Surfaces for sports areas.

Workspace Technology sports flooring solution is based on three key build elements, under floor construction, hardwood floor and the surface treatment. The combination of these construction elements will determine the use for the floor and enables Workspace Technology to create a range of sports solutions including active, dance and mixed use.

The Batten System

System Overview - Hardwood panels are secret nailed to a softwood batten with a sports grade foam under lay. A choice of batten thicknesses will be installed depending on the floor use.

Application - Mixed use sports.

Underlay System

System Overview - The underlay system is suitable for refurbishments and when a low added floor height is required. The hardwood planks are clipped together to form a continuous floor, which is laid on a foam underlay designed to provide resilience and shock absorption.

Application - Medium performance use and is ideal for keep fit sports e.g. aerobics.

Fully Sprung Flooring System

System Overview - The fully sprung flooring system is laid on sports grade levelling cradles which allow adjusted to help even out the sub-floor where required. Hardwood planks are secret nailed to a batten which assists with the levelling of the floor surface.

Application - High performance sports with maximum bounce and resilience. This system is suitable for installation in both new builds and refurbishments.

Workspace Technology Ltd undertake a full review of the proposed site for installation and construction works to identify any environmental risks, these will then be highlighted within Method Statements and Environmental Risk Assessments as a part of our project delivery plan.

Typical Risks for example may be

Watercourses, Subterranean Containment and Pipework - be aware of potential ocations

Storage of Hazardous Materials and Liquids - make sure that these cannot pollute the surrounding area

Nuisance - be aware of surrounding building use, whether educational or residential, and plan work processes to prevent or reduce impact

A specific Waste Management Plan is produced for each site; the waste management plan will be formed in consultation with our client, main contractors and any other party holding an interest in the provision of waste management. It will ensure compliance with Waste handling regulations, both statutory and as specified by our client and or a main contractor where relevant.
