All students that have completed the Candidate for Program Completion Form have ben enrolled in a mock CALP class that you see on your schedule (CALP-DEC, CALP-MAY, CALP-AUG)•This is a grouping tool to communicate easily with the candidates

Preliminary graduation check notification emails starting at the end of January and through early March

The degree checks will confirm if you are in the process of completing your final requirements this Spring, or if you will still have requirements outstanding after this semester. The email will also let you know if you are eligible to participate in Commencement ceremonies.

Traditional Undergraduate

Up to 6 units that still need to be completed after May commencement and still participate in the ceremony. ANY 6 (GPA 2.0)

Adult Undergraduate

Includes all of the undergraduate nursing programsUp to 9 units outstanding and still participate (GPA 2.0)

Credential As long as summer classes are your last ones, you can participate in commencement because some classes are only offered during summer.

Certificate Enrolled in their last units in the Spring Semester and have a GPA of 3.0 are eligible to participate in ceremonies. (& B- or better, CR/NC)

Graduate • You are held at a higher level at the masters level (must have a 3.0) • All coursework, recital, thesis projects, oral exams, student presentations must be

completed by May

The only exception to that is the MSN-FNP students.

RegistrarPublic ceremonies take place in May for students completing their degrees, certificates, and credentials during the academic year. The following policy related to participation in the commencement ceremony was passed in the Spring of 2014 by the Undergraduate Curriculum and Standards Committee. The schedule listed below allows for the phasing in of zero units to walk in the undergraduate commencement ceremony: •For the 2014-2015 year, traditional undergraduate students with 6 units outstanding may participate in the 2015 commencement ceremony. •For the 2014-2015 year, adult degree completion students with 9 units outstanding may participate in the 2015 commencement ceremony. •For the 2015-2016 year, traditional undergraduate students with 3 units outstanding may participate in the 2016 commencement ceremony. •For the 2015-2016 year, adult degree completion students with 6 units outstanding may participate in the 2016 commencement ceremony. •For the 2016-2017 year and beyond, traditional undergraduate students may not participate in commencement unless all degree requirements are completed and/or are enrolled in their last degree requirements in the Spring. •For the 2016-2017 year and beyond, adult degree completion students may not participate in commencement unless all degree requirements are completed and/or are enrolled in their last degree requirements in the Spring.

• Final degree checks will begin right after the ceremonies for May candidates. Yes or No graduation letters will be sent by late June.

• All notifications are sent to your HNU email account

• Diplomas will be ordered early July, mailed out to you around early October. Transcripts with your degree posted will be available once your get your Yes email.

Undergrad Must complete your undergraduate degree within two years of your last semester of attendance in order to graduate under the requirements of your catalog.

Graduate Must complete your graduate degree within seven calendar years from the time you began your program.

This includes all coursework, comprehensive examinations, theses, projects, practica, competencies, and recitals (still a new catalog after 2 years).

Certificate Must complete your graduate certificate within seven calendar years from the time you began your program.

This includes all coursework, comprehensive examinations, theses, projects, practica, competencies, and recitals (still a new catalog after 2 years).

Credential Complete your post-baccalaureate coursework within two years of your last semester of attendance in order to graduate under the requirements of your catalog.

• Your student account must be paid in full by May 1, 2015 in order to participate in any of the Commencement ceremonies.

• Don’t make any irreversible plans unless you know for sure that you are financially eligible to participate.

If your account shows a balance due, you will receive billing statements during the spring 2015 term. These bills will be posted to Hawk’s Edge.

• If you have financial aid, be sure that all of your aid is posted to your account by May 1.

• If you are paying monthly via TMS be sure your final payment on April 1 is on time and that it covers your balance due.

• If you have a personal payment plan with HNU, your payments must be current.

If you have tuition reimbursement from your employer, be sure that we have your HNU Employer Reimbursement Certification form and that it covers your balance due. Any amount not covered by your employer is due from you by May 1.

• You will receive a status update from Student Accounts regarding your eligibility to participate in Commencement during the week of April 13.

• You will receive a final status update from Student Accounts on May 6.

If you’ve taken out any loans while at HNU, you are required to do Exit Counseling at studentloans.gov

Who Needs to complete exit counseling?Any student who graduates, drops below half-time registration, or otherwise stops attending (even if you plan to transfer to another school) and:

– Has received a federal student loan at ANY point during college including: • Direct Subsidized Loans • Direct Unsubsidized Loans • Direct PLUS Loans

– Has received a Teacher Education Assistance for College & Higher Education (TEACH) Grant

Loan Repayment OptionsStandard Repayment Plan

- Payments are a fixed amount of at least $50 per month- Up to 10 years- You’ll pay less interest for your loan over time under this plan than you would under other plans

Graduated Repayment Plan

- Payments are lower at first and then increase, usually every two years-Up to 10 years

Extended Repayment Plan

- Payments may be fixed or graduated- Up to 25 years

Income-Based Repayment Plan

- Your maximum monthly payments will be 15 percent of discretionary income, the difference between your adjusted gross income and 150% of the poverty guideline for your family size and state of residence- Your payments change as your income changes- Up to 25 years

Pay As You Earn Repayment Plan

- Your maximum monthly payments will be 10 percent of discretionary income- Your payments change as your income changes.- Up to 20 years

Income Contingent Repayment Plan

- Payments are calculated each year and are based on your adjusted gross income, family size, and the total amount of your Direct Loans.- Your payments change as your income changes- Up to 25 years

Income-Sensitive Repayment Plan

- Your monthly payment is based on annual income- Your payments change as your income changes- Up to 10 years
