Most of the participants claimed relationshipscannot be solely maintained through Facebook. They did, however, say that Facebook can beused to maintain long distance friendships.
Facebook provides a database to access distantfriends and try to keep in touch. All participantsagreed that face-to-face interactions are morefavorable, but Facebook allows a secondarycommunication that incorporates friendshipsatisfaction aspects.

Implications of this study illustrate the
development of technology and social
networking sites that benefit interpersonalrelationships. People are no longer limited to
face-to-face interaction to maintainfriendships. Long-distance relationships and
friendships attest to the benefits of Facebookand the ability to communicate in detail in
similar ways to face-to-face interaction.
