DAY 1 – 03/05

Departure from Linate Airport (Air Dolomiti Spa EN 279) Arrival in Frankfurt Hahn Airport After picking up your car (Opel Corsa 1.2) at Alamo.de rental

office at the airport you drive to the City-Hotel Neubrunnenhof *** in Mainz and check in.

Welcome drink at the hotel and enjoy lunch in the city centre.

In the afternoon you visit the quaint town of Mainz and then you have leisure time.

You can eat Dinner in the Restaurant “Von Du” in Mainz.

MAINZ Mainz has been a media town ever since its most famous son,

Johannes Gutenberg, invented the printing press - the first of the modern media - over 500 years ago. The Gutenberg Museum has many treasures for book lovers to admire.

In Mainz there are reminders of even earlier eras. Mainz was founded by the Romans and their legacy is still visible in many places around the town. In the old quarter you can stroll along twisting narrow streets past quaint, medieval buildings up to the majestic cathedral.

DAY 2 – 04/05

Breakfast at the hotel . Visit to Mainz Gonsenheim Game Park . Lunch at “Hofgut Laubenheimer Hoehe” restaurant, where you

can taste some typical regional dishes. In the afternoon you’ll enjoy a walk in Mainz beautiful Municipal

Park: special attractions in the park are the Rose garden and the great Drususstein,

Free dinner and leisure time. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Gonsenheim Game Park The park was originally designed as an enclosure for deer and

wild boar. A number of cages housing smaller wild animals were subsequently added. Today, the park is a large enclosed area for goats and sheep, red deer, fallow deer, mouflon sheep and wild boar. It is also a water fowl park.

MUNICIPAL PARK The municipal park and the rose garden attract visitors from

May to July, and also offer magnificent views over the rivers Rhine and Main. In the summer, the promenade along the banks of the Rhine and the beer gardens on the Malakoff terrace are the perfect places to go for a stroll or simply sit and watch the world go by.

ROSE GARDEN - DRUSUSSTEIN

The rose garden has several thousand roses for visitors to admire. The large lawns with their enormous trees provide a great place to relax and while away the hours. One of the garden's special attractions is the beautifully designed flower clock. 

The Drususstein is a nearly 20 meters high, masonry block of Roman origin on the grounds of the citadel of Mainz.It was erected in 9 BC by Roman troops in honour of the deceased general Drusus, in Mogontiacum (now Mainz).

DAY 3 – 05/05

Breakfast at the hotel. Then you are off to Frankfurt am Main to visit this magnificent

city. Free lunch. In the afternoon tour of the Palm Garden. After the visit you drive to the little town of Idar-Oberstein,

where your accommodation for the night is at the Hosser's Hotel.

Dinner in Flugplatz restaurant, where you can taste the "spiessbraten“, beef or pork with a special marinade .

Overnight stay at Hosser's hotel.

FRANKFURT AM MAIN Frankfurt am Main is one of the largest cities in Germany. The

metropolitan area, called Rhine-Main after its two biggest rivers, has over four million people. Frankfurt is an important centre for traffic and for the financial business. It is the seat of the European Central Bank, the German Federal Bank (Bundesbank) and of the biggest German banks, and it has an important stock exchange where shares of German companies are traded.

THE PALM GARDEN The Palmengarten (29

hectares) is one of two botanical gardens in Frankfurt am Main, and is located in the city district Westend-Nord. It is the largest garden of its kind in Germany. Destroyed during the World War II, it was completely rebuilt and finished in 1992.The botanical exhibits are organized according to their origin in free-air or climatized greenhouses, which also contain numerous tropical and subtropical plants.

DAY 4 – 06/05

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Deutsches Edelsteinmuseum (German Gemstone

Museum) in Idar-Oberstein. Free lunch. In the afternoon pamper yourself at S. Hartmann Days Spa

& Gästehaus, a great SPA where you can relax and enjoy one of the several treatments available to keep you fit.

Free dinner and leisure time. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DEUTSCHES EDELSTEIN MUSEUM

The German Gemstone Museum has an extensive collection of artfully crafted sculptures, engraved treasures, and some 10,000 raw and polished gemstones — the most comprehensive collection of its kind.

The area surrounding Idar-Oberstein was once famous for its agate and jasper deposits. You can still tour a functional gem mine, the Steinkaulenberg, daily in March-November. An hour-long guided tour, the only one of its kind in Europe, will give you a special appreciation of agates, amethysts, jasper, and smoke quartzes in their original environment, volcanic basalt.

DAY 5 – 07/05

Breakfast at the hotel. Trip to Daun, where you will spend the whole day visiting the

magnificent Volcanic Eifel European Geopark. Packed lunch in the park. In the afternoon you continue your visit in the park. Accommodation at the Hotel Panorama Superior in Daun and

free dinner. Overnight stay in hotel.

VOLCANIC EIFEL EUROPEAN GEOPARK

The Volcanic Eifel European Geopark offers an opportunity to discover the region's red-hot past through a range of activities including a guided walk with the park ranger or a visit to the geological museums. A wide range of activities, in particular for families, grades and kids is offered. Apart from the fascination for the geological past, also nowadays issues such as broad heights, dense forests, clear brooks, delicious meadows and romantic villages inspire our guests in the Vulkaneifel.

Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to Laacher See. Free lunch. In the afternoon visit to Maria Laach Abbey. Now you drive to Worms where you’ll find accommodation at

the Hotel Boos. Free dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

LAACHER SEE Laacher See (Laach Lake) is a caldera lake and a potentially

active volcano, in Rhineland-Palatinate, situated close to the cities of Koblenz and Bonn. The lake lies 259 m above sea level, is 8 km in circumference, and surrounded by a ring of high hills. The water is blue, very cold and bitter to the taste. The lake has no natural outlet and so the water level changes considerably due to evaporation and rainfall conditions.

MARIA LAACH ABBEY Maria Laach Abbey is a

Benedictine abbey situated on the south-western shore of the Laacher See, in the Eifel region of the Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany.Founded in 1093, it is widely considered a masterpiece of German Romanesque architecture. Its relatively short length and multitude of towers and turrets give it the appearance of a fairy-tale fortress, which is further accentuated by its scenic lakeside setting.

WORMS It is a city in the southeast of

Rhineland-Palatinate. It is situated on the western banks of the Rhine, at the intersection between the Rhine Main and Rhein Neckar metropolitan regions.

Founded by the Celts as Borbetomagus, Worms is in a dispute with Cologne, Augsburg and Trier about the title of Germany’s oldest city. However, it is the only German member of the Most Ancient European Towns Network.

Worms is famed as the main scene of the Nibelungenlied, as a Luther city and for its Cathedral, one of the three so-called Romanesque Imperial Cathedrals (together with those of Mainz and Speyer).
