Come And See My Garden 2013
On Monday, October 28th we visited six wonderful gardens belonging to Garden Club Members:
Friends of the Garden Club, Geoff & Barbara
Nev and his wife Sylvia Marie Pieter and Anne Peter and Faye Lorraine
The morning began early when we assembled at Judy Henzell Park to receive our Booklets from our
“Come and See My Garden” co-ordinator Jenny
Car Pooling was essential and we thank the drivers who so willingly loaded their cars with “tourists”:
Di Sue , Marina , Robyn and Judy consult their directions before starting out
Nev and Sylvia’s Garden
A Warm welcome from Nev and Sylvia
Sylvia enjoys their “Garden of Eden”
Deidre and Sylvia discuss the intricacies of the growing of roses

Did you see those beautiful
orchids
Marie ’s side garden
The backyard is my favourite place. I have attempted to establish a Mediterranean atmosphere around the
extended covered outdoor area
The colourful entrance to Geoff & Barbara ’s Home.
Wilma Lawson and Trisha Penny
Have a look around the back
– there’s the most beautiful
red shrub
The clouds were threatening but nothing could detract from Geoff’s colourful back garden
Among the plants were Cordylines, crotons, acalyphas, dracaenas, bromeliads and dwarf frangipani
Quisqualis indica( Rangoon Creeper)
can be used as a climber or in full sun as a medium size shrub.Cut back 1/3 after flowering to encourage compact growth and promote mass flower/colour display for the following season.Likes a rich well drained soil, hardy & semi deciduous.
Gardening Tip No 1
Our next garden required a good navigator as we followed the written instructions step by step . But we knew if we got lost we could always ring Jenny. Thankfully no-one did!!!
Jenny to the rescue

“One of our favourite areas is the garden off the courtyard which we created from a narrow sodden area of lawn”
Curved garden beds have been used in the narrow backyard where beautiful exotic and native shrubs
grow
