WHO? WHAT? WHY?

Most of the Pyramids were built as tombs for the country's Pharaohs and their companions. The most famous Egyptian pyramids are those found at Giza, near Cairo. Several of the

Giza pyramids are counted among the largest structures ever built. They were built during a time when Egypt was one of the richest and most powerful civilizations in the

world. They built them in a span of 85 years between 2589 and 2504 BC. There are about eighty pyramids known today from ancient Egypt. Some scientists say they were built by

aliens, but I disagree. I think they were built by the Egyptians, but really slowly because they didn’t have the

things we have now. What do you think?

If you want a tour when you visit the pyramids, it depends on the type of tour you want

This Pyramid is Snofru's Red Pyramid

HISTORY

The Ancient Egyptians believed that when a pharaoh died he became Osiris, the king of the dead. They believed that for the dead pharaoh to carry out his duties as king of the dead

his soul which remained with the body, had to be looked after.

In order for the soul to survive, the dead pharaoh's body was mummified and buried with all the things it would need for

the afterlife.

There are many theories about how the Ancient Egyptians actually built the pyramids. It is believed that large blocks of stone were transported along the river Nile to the Giza site. They were then moved into place using sledges and ramps.
