The OmniPrint hybrid process first screen prints image’s white underlayer on the Freejet’s detachable platen on the Vastex 1000. After flash curing the white print, the operator inserts the printed platen unit into Omniprint’s Freejet inkjet printer for printing the process color image over the screened white.

Conclusions

Major equipment manufacturers for garment printing have invested in

hybrid screen & inkjet printing solutions due to the flexibility & variable data

capabilities they offer.

The WHITE, the most expensive & problematic color, is printed by screen

printing; while 4-color, & for some 6-color, process is inkjet printed.

New ink chemistry for hybrids is enabling printing on 100% polyester darks

and lights, as well as cotton and cotton blend dark & light fabrics.

Ink chemistry is driving improved performance.

Printhead capping & moisturizing, along with ink recirculation, are enabling

unclogged print nozzles after extended periods of not printing and

reducing the need to flush heads and the expense of flushing ink & fluids.

The race is on between hybrid screen-inkjet solutions and all inkjet ones.
