High School and College love: Two Different Things?

As we go to another step of our life and try different things, we seem to compare and go for the better one. Love is an example. When you were in high school, the new guys/girls seemed so cute and these cute people seemed interesting, as if you can’t last a day without seeing them or having a single interaction with them, and you believe that your love life seemed so full of possibilities. But as you get to know them better, who was cool, and who was weird, things changed. In this stage, you have the chance to meet new colleagues, be friend with them, know them better and of course, build a special type of relationship as time goes by. But it’s not always the case. After being committed and after you experienced being in love, the hype of searching for your true love isn’t there anymore, or maybe sometimes.Many people consider their high school years to be the best part of their life - and they have good reasons to feel this way.

High school is definitely the time where you really enjoyed your youth, also the time of rebelliousness, and even raging hormones. It’s the time to have boyfriends and girlfriends as well. Since it’s the time when we actually get a taste of freedom, some relationships are really intense, and full of hopes and possibilities.When two persons meet in high school, this basically means that they meet during the time when both of them are still trying to look for their identity. It may not sound good for others but high school life does have a good side as well; we can use the lessons we have learned in high school love later on life.Love is totally like a fairytale... until reality sets in and makes you realize that couples aren’t always happy and not always having a “happily ever after.” We also need to look beyond appearances because not all people are attracted to handsome and pretty students; others prefer the less attractive ones. And another thing that high school love wants us to learn is that one may win some, but he/she may lose some, too. Let’s talk about the next level, college. When someone think of “college life”, the first few things that may come to someone’s mind is a never-ending amount of school work and case studies, lots of new people; nice and annoying ones, the possibility of having a snoring roommate in dormitories, tons of parties, and maybe even a little magical romance along the way. Maybe that will explain college. It’s easy to fall in love, but the challenge of keeping a relationship despite individual differences and other stress factors can be difficult in life. In college students, there are issues that must be tackled to ensure any relationship to last.

Some couples want to end the commitment just because they’re falling out of love, bored, or simply not satisfied with their partners. Finding a true love may seem too complicated for somestudents, yet this can be made easier by understanding certain aspects that affect any relationship. College is also known as a time of change, growth, excitement, and self-discovery but it can also be a tough time for students. First thing that students must know is that you must be careful of your priorities. You should know which is important and which is not. Next is that, you should look for people who has the same interest with you. It’s the best way to juggle love and school responsibilities, isn’t it? Don’t overschedule yourself. A lot of options and opportunities will come in your way and it’s not bad to grab those but you should be aware that having a hectic schedule means that you’ll have lesser time with your partner. And lastly, listen to your heart. Do you really want to enter in a relationship because you want to? Or just because you need to? Peer pressure is really common among teenagers and young adults but you shouldn’t take the risks just to look cool. Being in a relationship isn’t that easy. Do what you want and not what other people want you to do.

to be “The Best Four Years In Your Life”, and yeah! You’re now entering the most exciting dimension – the college life. You may hear them saying college life will always be the best yet the hardest part in your life, it may seem right. And from the time we were born, nothing’s easy back then right? College life is tough, but in a different way. With all this laundry, classes, money, friends, night gigs, orgs, and college things who would have say that college life won’t be interesting? Well, because college wouldn’t be college without these stuffs! Definitely right! So soon-to-be-freshies, let the fun begin ‘cause one thing is for sure, you’ll gonna love COLLEGE.

Here are tips that will surely help you adapt with your new environments my dear freshies :

#1. Do something different, crazy, stupid or silly this summer. Go on and waste yourself! You’ll be on a tiring four years, remember? Do whatever it is that will make you and your friends’ crazy this summer. Have fun!

#2. Give yourself a quiet time. You’ll surely miss this, I tell you! Cherish that moment with yourself. You may be experiencing it once a year from the day you entered your college. Talk to yourself!

#3. Reconcile with your friend. Got some unresolved issues with your high school friends? It’s now the best time to resolve them!

#5. Have a heart-to-heart conversation with your mom. She’ll surely miss talking to you. Grab this opportunity to make her laugh, drop her tears and eventually hug her tight. After all, you’ll be independent later on. You’ll gonna miss your mom. Show her your unconditional love!

#4. Hit a movie with your brother or sister. One day, you’ll just be dreaming of this, never take them for granted. Now will be the perfect time to bond with this people you love the most. Enjoy the date.

#6. Organize a family dinner. Book, pens, lectures, lab exercises, laptop, power point presentations, and your room will always be your partner upon entering college. I’m telling you, you shouldn’t miss this thing. Don’t forget your family!

#7. Start having your plans. You may be using your planner regarding this. Start to have your plans!

#8. Learn about your school. Being an alien isn’t a case. Just learn few things from your school for you to be able to adapt on your new environment. Be smart though.

#10. Never forget to thank God. In everything you do, always acknowledge God’s blessings and grace. He will surely bless you more. After all, what you have now, had been He’s will for you. No matter how busy your schedule is, always have a time for HIM. Pray!

No one will really help you, aside from yourself. Break a leg freshies!

#9. Break up with your high school boyfriend. This advice sucks, HAHAHAHA. And maybe no one wants to follow it, but sadly almost everyone regrets they didn’t follow it. A long-distance relationship will just hold you back from being independent and will somehow prevent you from enjoying your college life. We’ve been into this big world my dear; there are still guys /gals there which had been for you. Focus on your studies for now. We will be there on the right time. Love yourself!

Renzo’s a big blessing to me. L-o-l! Talk about mushiness! No, no, no, without sarcasm, he’s the best-est bud (if there’s such a word) that you could ever have. He’ll do everything just to make you laugh, literally. He’ll make fun of himself just to make sure that you’ll laugh at him. Sounds idiotic, huh? ARE YOU FRIEND ZONED OR SEEN ZONED?Zones.Zones.Zones. There are so many out of the galaxy words that had sprung up in our generation that you can’t even use because you seriously don’t understand it. Two of these words are the “friend zoned” and the “seen zoned”.

“FRIEND ZONED”Most common statements that you can hear from a guy when a girl is too snob to appreciate his romantic efforts, “Pre, na- friend zoned ako” or “Bro, angsakit, Friend Zoned. Based on a known website, “Friend Zone” is defined as an interpersonal relationship of someone who wanted to be more than friends or be romantically involved with a person. Sarcastically speaking for Filipinos “friend zoned” = “Busted”.

WAYS OF DETERMINING IF YOU ARE IN THE FRIEND ZONED LEVEL

1. She/ He might always give you the same answer like “Sorry, I don’t want to ruin our friendship”.

2. She/He will just say “Thank you” for your sweet efforts.

3. Will hold your hand and will just tell his/her friends that “Hey guys! Meet my Bestfriend”.

4. Can either be sweet or snobbish to your efforts, but will never ever return the same treatment to you.

“SEEN ZONED”Have you experienced being “Seen Zoned”? Well, if not then lucky for you. You might be a good company that’s why everyone would love to talk to you. But if you did, maybe seen zone’s too famous that even you had to experience. Seen zone is first established by Facebook and is now widely used by dramatic people to describe this common scenario: Don’t get too upset, don’t get the dramatic chills. Why? Because, as for our generation today many things are popping up and being “seen zoned” is one of them. You don’t have to worry (except if it’s your crush that made you experience that. Ouch!) It does make you feel sad and disappointed cause you may think there is something wrong with you. But of course, nobody is perfect. So don’t let yourself be low morale. Laguna is the number one city of Philippines when it comes to hot spring resorts. Pansol is the name of the place where most swimming pool resorts are located. Pansol is an extension of the highway in which every street, going to the left or right is full of private and public resorts. Every summer tourist come and visit this place for they can relax peacefully here in Pansol and yet they will not even spend a big amount of money unlike beaches. Usually during summer Pansol streets are always in a traffic jam. Being said that Pansol is the capital hot spring resort of the country we have researched on which resort is the thriftiest. We have discovered this place in Pansol, a very thrifty yet enjoyable place to stay

in and enjoy your summer vacation. It is the public swimming pool resort Laguna Hot Spring What’s special about them is that they have this so called lava rocks from the volcano that’s why they don’t use tiles. They also have this fishes that swims with you. Once you behave in a place they would just come to you and eat your dead skin. They also have this spa on the water which is very relaxing and soothing, They also offer overnight stay and morning or afternoon session or rent. They also offer a video to make the summer more relax. Compared to other public resorts the Laguna Hot Spring allows visitors to bring their own food and with their very affordable entrance fee.

Miley Wont StopMany things happened to Cyrus while she’s on a break, and one of those things is the on-off engagement with her Hunger Games hunk boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. After a long break, Miley released her new single “We Can’t Stop”, as a pre-release for her new full-length album and the single hit number one on iTunes USA. This new achievement has set Miley’s hopes high that it’d be bigger than Hannah Montana and it will become a smash comeback hit. She debuted with her new song at Ryan Seacrest's US radio show overnight. But right after its release, a lot of controversies and comparisons were made. As you listen to the song, you will notice that she's singing about coke, ecstasy and strip clubs; totally not suitable for younger audiences and very different from her previous releases. International media started to compare Cyrus’ new song and concept to Rihanna and Lady Gaga. This new song proved that she is now a mature woman who is ready to have a

protective image. The acompanying music video for her new single was released on June 2013 and reached 10.7 million views after 24-hours upon its. The music video reached 100 million views within 37 days, setting a new record for being the fastest music video to get the Vevo certification. Cyrus became a hot topic again after she performed We Can’t Stop on MTV Video Music Award 2013 and did a collaboration with another Hollywood star Robin Thicke and did the infamous “twerking” in the public. Other people are against but some are not. Well, who are we to judge her anyway? Cyrus said that this new concept is a part of moving on from her sweet popstar image that Disney and the Hannah Montana series gave her. On August 2013, Cyrus released a new single entitled “Wrecking Ball”, while the music video was released on September the same year. Cyrus’ new music video holds the record for being the most-viewed video in 24-hours after its release. On October 2013, her new album “Bangerz” was released under RCA Records. Cyrus herself described her new work as “dirty-south-hiphop”, considering it as her very first album as she started moving on from her Hannah Montana days. Bangerz debuted at number one at Billboard 200 with 270,000 copies on its first week. From Nashville to New York City, and now the whole world. Is there anything that Miley Cyrus can’t do? Probably none. Let’s watch her grow more as she continues dominating the mainstream music industry with her undeniably charms and talent.

IT’S nOw OR nEVER: ThE JOURnEy OF STEphAnIE RETUyA

Being a part of the fashion world is definitely every girl’s dream. After getting the rights from its predecessor, Asia’s Next Top Model (abbreviated as AsNTM) was born. On its first cycle, AsNTM was composed of 14 girls who will compete for the title “Asia’s Next Top Model” and start a new life as a model. One of those girls is Stephanie Retuya, a Filipino model and theonly girl to represent Philippines on the first season. Before joining AsNTM, Retuya first walked in the Philippine Fashion Week Premiere. This woman may not look like a tough contender but she’s definitely not. Stephanie Retuya made a record in the history of Top Model for making it to the finals without winning any best photo award during the weekly eliminations and staying in the bottom two for five times. According to her bio on the show’s website, Retuya just started modeling in 2011and considered as a “part-time model and a full-time mother to a baby girl.”

Unfortunately, Stephanie wasn’t able to get the grand prize. Jessica Amornkuldilokfrom Thailand became the first ever Asia’s Next Top Model. Despite of being not the winner, Retuya was still able to continue her dream as she received a lot of offers from different magazines. She is the current model of the newly established SMAura at the Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. "For everyone who continuously supported me on this once in a lifetime journey thank you so much!!!! God Bless Everyone!" Retuyaposted on her personal Twitter account. The first cycle of AsNTM was short but it was really meaningful for the contestants, especially Stephanie for she was able to show to the world what a Filipina and a mother can do.

Title: The Number 23Starring: Jim Carrey

Director: Joel Schumacher

Review: Jim Carrey is one of my favorite actors and when I found out that the film “The Number 23” was starring him. I immediately assumed that it would be a great comedic film. I was wrong about the comedic part; the film is not a comedy but is a mystery thriller

but still. I will retain the great part. Jim Carrey plays the character of Walter Sparrow a happily married

man that works as an Animal Control Officer. On his birthday, his wife bought him a blood red covered

novel titled “The Number 23” in which he finds the book’s story to be very similar to his life. The film was

not very acclaimed by critics but that does not mean that it is not worth watching, and also watch out for.the intense numberology centered at the number 23

BOOKS REVIEWTitle: Echo BurningAuthor: Lee Child

Review: Around the time I read this book, I didn’t really have a preference for choosing and the only main reason I picked this up is because the front cover looked somewhat appealing to me. Apparently “Echo Burning” was the fifth book of Lee Child’s Reacher series; however this can be enjoyed even without reading the prior books. The story starts off with Jack Reacher, an ex-military man, punches a bullies nose and is now trying to escape by hitchhiking in which a Hispanic woman named Carmen Greer stops and picks him up saying the only reason she did was because she has a big problem in which she asks Reacher to help her with, saying her tax evading husband is coming out of prison soon and he will inevitably continue beating her. Then the story proceeds to a detective like story in which Reacher travels from one place to another searching for clues and figures a way to help his client, Carmen, to escape her violent husband.

Title: Deception PointAuthor: Dan Brown

Review: Another fast-paced thriller dealing with the NSA from Dan Brown. I found this novel to be right on par with Digital Fortress and thought that it was a very well-written thriller. From start to finish Deception Point takes the ball and runs with it like any other Dan Brown thriller. I like that the plot moves around in scenery from the Arctic to Washington, DC and a few points in-between keeping the action flowing and the characters moving around instead of being static in one place. The characters are well written and believable and, in this book, Brown has written another very strong female lead character as he also did in Digital Fortress.

I don't know why these two novels didn't get the press that the Robert Langdon novels did, perhaps it's because they deal with the NSA instead of having a religious based theme that stirs up controversy. Whatever the reason, if you enjoy Dan Brown's Robert Langdon novels or are just a fan of a good thriller, I'd recommend giving Deception Point a chance.
