I showed Megan a drawing of the cafe te r iaand the t ab les depicted in i t . I pointed out a few i tems in thedrawings to help explain th e la y-o ut of the drawing. I asked Meganto poin t to the table she sa t a t . She pointed to table "Z", ands ta ted she s a t with Carmie Diehl and Stephanie Wise. Megan did notsee any unusual ly large duff le bags in the cafe te r ia , or see anybodycarrying a l ar ge d uf fle bag on 4/20(99, or th e p re vio us day.Around 11: 25am she heard gunshots outsid.e the west windows. Ben advisedthat students began to move toward the s t a i r s and it was l ike agiant wave of students moVing in that direct ion. He re cal led th athis friend Andrea Iilllsner fe l l down on the s t a i r s and helped her up.As another student fe l l , he helped that person also . He said hecould hear glass shat ter ing back down in the cafeter ia . He advisedthat when he reached the second landing on the s t a i r s , he could hearbul le t s hi t t ing the wall behind him and saio. that a piece ofshat tered t i l e h i t him on the back of the head.

    He said he was aware of the location of an emergency ex i t inthe math ha l l but was headed a t f i r s t toward the science hal l . Hes ta ted thathe heard a gunshot and ran back down the hal l and sawMR. SANDERS on the f loor . He said Mr. Sanders was down on h is handsand knees and was bleeding from h is mouth. Ben saw Ilr. Sanaersmotion with h is arm, indicat ing that he wanted Ben to get away. Bensaid he ran toward the math hal l and could hear someone yell ing,"they 're coming, they ' re corning.' He advised that when he approachedthe edge of the math hal l , he heard 'a couple of shots ."

    looking through the windows along the courtyard s ide of thecafeter ia when he sUddenly got down on the ground, on h is stomachwith h is hands ~ ~ d e r bis chest - l ike a push-up posi t ion. He advisedtha t th i s person looked scared. Nicbolas s ta te d th at he heard SOmekind o f explosion inside the cafe te r ia but he could not t e l l wherethe n oise came from.

    He advised tha t he and s ev era l o th ers hid in a room, referredto as the Business I room which i s adjacent to the s tore of f ice . Hesaid t ha t he had l o s t t rack of time while hiding but did hear whatsounded l ike gunshots coming from the area of the cafeter ia . He saidtha t l a te r , he heard more gunshots and voices, 'whooping andhol ler ing ' as the shots were being f ired. He said the shots soundedvery rapid, l ike automatic gunfire, and sound ed l ike two dif fe ren tweapons. He s ta te d th at there had been one very lOUd explosion whichcaused ce i l ing t i l es to fa l l . He also recalled there being a l a rgeamount of water on the f loor from the spr inklers . He said tha t hecould hear more gunshots coming from upstairs as well as the soundof footsteps - running. He described some sounds as tha t of wbat heperceived as tall les being ove rturned. He advised tha t Mrs. Frommerwas t rying to get an outside l ine on a phone in the off ice but a l lthe numbers were busy. He said she did f inal ly get through to theLit t le ton Fire Department.

    Colleen advised that while she was seated at the cafeteria table shedid not see anyone with a gun come through the south-east exi t . She alsosaid that she did not hear any shots while in the oafet er ia o r whileorossing th e parking lot . She did say that while she was in the f i r s thouse she went to there were two to three big booms coming from the school.Colleen said the booms were big enough to shake the house. COlleen furtheradvised that she did not obser,e any duffel bags in the oafeteria when shearrived, however, she r ela ted that there were a ll ready alot of people inthe cafeteria when she got there. Also Colleen s aid th at she did not seeanyone carry such a duffel bag into th e oafeceria while she was there.Colleen advised that she had been in math class prior to going to thecafeteria for lunch. From there she ran up th e stairs in the auditorium to theupper level and then e :t it ed th e auditorium l:>y way of th e north-east upperlevel door into the north main level hall way. From there they went eastin the north hall to a hall way on the east side of the gym. hetween th egym and office area. and then ran north through th is hall and exited thebuilding on the north-east eorner of th e gym. From there they went to th etennis oourts on the north side of the school and c limbed the fence intoClement Park. Sara advised that beoause some of th e kids were havingtrouble climbing over the fenoe. picnic tables were pushed against th efence to ass is t them. Sara s ta te d th at she waited in Clement Park forabout ten minutes watching as the police cars began arriving and then shewent to th e lil:>rary at Crosss Drive and Bowels Avenue where she called herparents. Sara advised that sbe waited at the lil:>rary for her paren ts topick her up . Sara also reported that while she was in the n ortb hall aheheard shots coming from behind (west) her.     Sara advised that she did not know Eric H arris but she had DylanKlehod in her gym class during th e fal l semester of 1998. She said thatshe did not have any dealings with Klebold. She advised that some of thekids would tease him because of his height. as be was the t a l les t personin the class. On June 2, 1999 I spoke with Seoord 's mother, Mari,and made an appointment to interview ll .J. on June 3rd at 1500.On June 3, 1999 a t 1500 I arrived at 6966 South Kendall Blvd. andcontacted B.J. Secord. B.J. advised th at his correct name was WilliamJames Secord III . He advised that he attended Columbine High School andwith in th e ninth grade. B.J. also advised that he had been in school onApril 20. 1999, and that he had been in the cafeter ia .B.J. said that he arrived in the cafeteria a t about 11:10AM. S.J. continued to say that aftera short period of time he and his f ri endS ran out of t ne sou theast exi tfrom the cafeteria and across the parking lo t to South Piarce Street . Fromthere they ran south on Pierce Street to West POlk Avenue and then west onPolk Avenue eo about; the third or fourtn house Itest at. Pierce Street . B.J .said that there was a man in th e front yard. They to ld him whae washappening and took cover in ehe b.ouse. He advised that the lIIll.n did cal l911 and ~ e p o r t the shootings. 9.J. advised that he does not know who ehisperson is .

    B.J. advised th at p rio r to going to lunch he had been in spanishclass, which is located on the lower level to the east of the cafeteria.B.J. s ta te d th at he walked down the hall way between th e lower level of th eauditorium and ehe lower level class rooms eo th e cafeeeria. He relatedthat he did not pass or encounter anyone from th e Trench Coat Mafia whilehe was in th e hall way. B.J. said that he did not notice a la rg e duf fe ltype bag in the cafeteria, nor did he notice anyone oarry such a bag ineothe cafeter ia While he was there. B.J. also said that he did not see~ ~ y o n e carrying such a bag whi le he was walking to the oafeteria. B.J.said that he had been at th e table only a short time before th e shootingstarted. He advised that he had purchased something to drink at thestudent store, sat down, and had just searted to drink when someone saidthere was a fight. B.J. advised that he had lefe this pack at the table.Re descr ibed the pack as a black East Sport. He advised that he hadretrieved the paok on June 2nd.
