You will learn about important people from Colorado’s Past.

You will decide if it was good or bad for Colorado that they ever lived…friend or foe?

You will then decide if they should keep that person in the history books or have them removed

You will complete a final project which includes an oral presentation, art, and writing component. Please see choice sheet for individual choices.

You woke up this morning feeling a little funny, but in a good way. Similar to maybe how Spiderman felt before finding out his super power. But you have a power much more powerful….The power to rewrite the history of Colorado.

You must learn about the people from Colorado’s past and decide if they belong in the history books. They may have been good, bad, or a little bit of both.

Be careful, students for years to come will have to learn what you decide.

To accomplish the task, please follow the steps below. 1. First you'll be assigned to a team of 3 students.2. There will be 3 roles to play. An investigator, a decision

maker, and a recorder…Pick one to start….(Don’t worry every one will get their chance at every role)

3. The investigator chooses which person to research and works the computer

4. The decision maker looks at all the information and decides rather the person should be kept in Colorado History or gone forever

5. The recorder writes down the information gathered

This lesson was developed as part of the Academy School District 20’s webquest class.

This lesson is for students to learn about the people who lived in Colorado while thinking about ethical behaviors.

Process (Continued)The lesson would be done in three to four class periods. The first would be an introduction to webquest. The second and maybe third would be doing the webquest and taking notes and the last day would be for sharing.

The extra research and final project would take several more class periods. The focus is Social Studies but the final projects will include Art and Writing as well.

Students will probably need a practice run to go search from the WIKI page.

Evaluation


The lesson will be a success if students work together and learn about a variety of people from Colorado’s history. I am going to give all students the same grade from the rubric in the student section so that they focus on teamwork.

I will be able to check their notes to see who they researched.

There should also be good dialogue about the people and if their actions were good for Colorado.

I will grade the final projects according to another rubric.
