Per Capita Wood consumption for industrial use
The industrial wood is the one used in the manufacture of forest products, including among others pulp and paper, lumber and panels. This category excludes wood used as fuel.
In Latina America from 1960 to 2010 per capita industrial wood consumption increased by 2.67 times.
In the same period, in Colombia’s consumption decreased by 3.5 times.

We currently do not have statistics on the illegal wood trade in Colombia. NGOs such as WWF estimate that illegal timber makes up over 40% of all timber traded in Colombia.

Latin American countries are also investing $millions to control costs, f o r f e i t u r e , a n d t h e h u g e investment of entrepreneurs and producers to be legal.
