GET ENGAGEDDECA’s ENGAGE Conference will challenge Collegiate

DECA members to understand their career interests,

skills and experiences and empower them to stand

out among the competition. A blend of career and

leadership coaching, industry presentations and site

visits in Chicago, ENGAGE will connect Collegiate

DECA members to business professionals. Finally,

attendees will work in a small team to develop and

present a solution to a case study.

The conference will offer educational presentations

and off-site experiences in the following career fields:

HOTEL CANCELLATIONS: Guest room

cancellations less than 3 days (72 hours)

prior to arrival will result in a charge equal

to one night’s stay.

No-shows will result in the same penalty.

Reservations and cancellations must be

directed to DECA Inc in writing by the

advisor/head of delegation.

Any refunds will be processed through

DECA Inc. after the conclusion of the

conference, with payments distributed by

the end of December.

Advisors (or Head of Delegation) should

bring signed copies of the Conference

Delegate Practices and Procedures and

Dress Code for each participant. These

do not have to be submitted to DECA

Inc., but should be kept available by

the advisor or head of delegation for

reference. You can find the general DECA

dress code at www.deca.org/engage.

CONDUCT AND DRESS CODE

DECA reserves the right to cancel the conference 35 days prior to the start date if there are less than 100 participants.

To ensure your chapter’s attendance, send

to DECA Inc. as soon as possible before

the deadline date of October 18:

• Online registration and housing

materials

• $160 non-refundable registration fee

for each person

• Hotel deposit equal to one night’s

stay per room ($175 per room).

Acceptance of your conference

registration and rooming list will be

done on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration commits those to attend

and obligates them to costs incurred by

DECA. Do not book your airfare without

notification from DECA that you are

registered for the conference.

Upon acceptance of the registration,

DECA will invoice you for the total balance

of your chapter’s registration and hotel

cost. Payment in full must be received at

DECA by October 25. Please do not send

registration forms or money to the hotel.

METHODS OF PAYMENT:

Check or credit card (MasterCard, VISA or

American Express) are accepted.

Purchase orders will be accepted in

advance of the registration deadline as a

guarantee of payment, but all funds must

be received in full prior to event dates to

gain entry to the conference.

REFUND POLICY:

REGISTRATION CANCELLATION: All

cancellations must be in writing by the

advisor/head of delegation. If notification

is received on or before October 18, the

chapter will be issued a full refund.

If notification is received between October

19 and November 15, the chapter will

be issued a $50 refund per canceled

registration. No refunds will be given to

cancellations made on or after November

15. Substitutions may be made at any time

without penalty.

register. Collect the following information

from each attendee to complete the

registration process:

• Insurance beneficiary information

two days after submitting your online

CHANGES AND SUBSTITUTIONS:

All changes must be submitted to DECA

Inc. by e-mailing [email protected].

Conference participants must stay at the

conference hotel.

Included with rooms reservations:

• Business Center

• 24 Hour Fitness Center

• In-Room Refrigerator

Make your hotel reservations in the online

registration system with DECA Inc. As a

service, there will be a $5 fee per room

reservation.

Rooms with triple or quad occupancy

will be given priority for rooms with two

beds. Once the hotel block has been filled,

attendance will be closed.

on Thursday, November 21, between

4:00 PM and 6:00 PM at the Holiday Inn

Chicago Mart Plaza, River North to receive

conference materials.

All guest room and tax charges will have

been paid by DECA prior to check-out.

Each Head of Delegation is responsible

for payment of any outstanding incidental

charges (meals, parking, phone calls, etc.)

billed to their group’s hotel rooms prior to

check-out.

Each Head of Delegation should review

their guest rooms incidental charges with

the hotel the day prior to departure, and

make sure all accounts have been settled

before check-out.

Late check-outs (after 12:00 PM) may

result in additional charges. Any such

charges are the sole responsibility of the

Head of Delegation to resolve directly with

the hotel.

Keys will not be distributed until the

chapter’s invoice has been paid in full.

Head of Delegation is responsible for

verifying personnel assigned to specific

rooms. Hotel will assign rooms by group/

chapter whenever possible, but proximity

is not guaranteed.

No more than four (4) people may stay in

a room.

The hotel has been advised not to allow

incidental charges (meals, parking, phone

calls, etc.) to be billed to guest rooms

unless a credit/debit card is provided at

check-in to cover these costs. Any charges

billed to individual guest rooms in violation

of this policy are the sole responsibility of

the Head of Delegation to resolve directly

with the hotel.
