Do Now
• You are one of ten people left on Earth. The group is moving to the only inhabitable spot in the world to begin a new civilization. You, and you alone can only bring three books.
• What books would you bring??
Write down and share out

Persuasion
•We will be working on a short persuasive writing piece.
•We will also take a break to work on grammar and other writing skills after I look at your feminist critique essay.

The Shelter
• Read the handout aloud.
• Do a free- write for twelve minutes what choice you would make and explain why in detail. (Persuade us that you are right)
• Afterwards, report out to the class. You may read directly from your paper, or simply refer to it. (If someone is good at persuading, perhaps you will change your mind)

Persuade to save your people!
• WHO REMAINS IN THE SHELTER???????• In groups of four, work out the ones who must stay. (Argue your
cause within your group and come to a consensus) Write down notes so that when you speak to the class, you know the main points you want to make. • Then elect one to two people in your group to persuade the whole
class using at least TWO (Ethos, pathos, and / or logos – that your decision is best)
WE WILL THEN TAKE A FINAL VOTE!
