The National Hispanic University
“Make your community, your family, and yourself proud.”
Problem: California Budget Crisis
• Limited Space at State-funded institutions (CSUs & UCs)
• Limited Offerings at State-funded institutions (CSUs & UCs)
"Higher education is the system fuel for California's economic growth. We're rapidly running out of that
fuel," Lt. Gov. John Garamendi
Implications: Fewer Transferring Graduates
• CSU policy: SJSU will not be accepting any applications for admission for Spring 2010. Applies to all categories – freshmen,
transfer, credential, and graduate.
• Transfer students do not have clear paths or timetable to graduation
Solution: National Hispanic University
• NHU provides a clear academic and financial aid pathway and timetable to graduation
• Ability to transfer EVC units easily and quickly
