Well done! Congratulations to Rachel Cleife (7T) and Joshua Rogers (7C) who both attended a Field Craft and Survival outward bound course on Salisbury Plain over the weekend of 11th & 12th June. In addition to the many fun activities, they learnt how to skin and clean a rabbit, and how to build a ‘basher’ (an outside shelter) where they had to sleep on Saturday night during all that rain! Josh and his team won medals for Volleyball and Rachel’s team won medals for the general knowledge quiz. Rachel also won a medal for her outstanding rifle skills. They are both going to undertake an Adventure Week in August in Snowdonia National Park, where they will be rock climbing, abseiling, kayaking, canoeing and walking to the summit of Mount Snowdon. Well done and good luck to both of them. We came together as a College and celebrated his feast day through the presentation of house ties to all students in years 7 to 10. During our extended assembly, in addition to hearing about the life of St Augustine of Canterbury, we reminded the students of the significance of their house Saint. In reinforcing the house system we aim to foster a greater sense of community within each of the five houses encouraging a feeling of identity and belonging. In addition to rewarding students for academic achievement in the classroom, students will be rewarded for positive community contributions by staff and sixth form students at any time during the school day. The public examinations are drawing to a close and the college will revert to its normal timing of lessons from Monday 4 th July, with morning break following lesson two and lunch following lesson four. I would like to thank the students, who sat exams, for their exemplary conduct and parents for the support that they have given their sons/daughters during this challenging time. I recently addressed all students and reminded them that if they bring a mobile phone onto the college site it must remain switched off and out of sight. Please continue to support us in this area by contacting reception if you need to get an urgent message to your son/daughter. Joe Alsop Head Teacher College News

Over the week of the 4th – 8th April the young sportsambassadors have been running a rowing relaychallenge for all years in the school gym. With studentsand teachers participating from every year, this hasbeen a massive success with over one hundred peoplegetting involved. It has been amazing to see such adiverse range of students of all skill levels competingagainst each other; even the teachers were going allout to beat each other and be top of the leader board! The winning team get a fantastic opportunity to spendsome time in a real rowing boat and have the chance topractise techniques from a qualified instructor, allexpenses paid. By running events like this we hope toincrease the amount of exercise students, and eventeachers, in extra-curricular hours. We hope to beorganising more fun events like this in the future.

Itis imperative that we have up to date contact detailsfor all students in case of an emergency. If youchange any of your contact details, especiallymobile telephone numbers, please inform the officestaff in writing or by email immediately so that ourrecords can be updated.

Can I remind parents that no cars are permittedto move on to the college site between 8.30 and9.15 am and again between 3.00 - 4.30 pm.Please drop off on Wingfield Road only.

Please note that no make-up is to be worn bystudents of the College. As educators of youngpeople across this specific age group, we are awarethat self esteem can be affected by the appearanceof blemishes, acne, etc. For this reason studentsare permitted to use concealer to level out the skin’sappearance. It is difficult to ask a student whocomes into college with full foundation, and who istherefore asked to remove the make-up, to then gothrough the rest of the day with no concealer forproblem areas. Many thanks in advance for yoursupport in this area.
