Why Major in Mathematics Education/Elementary Level?
Other Degree Options
Young people need teachers who help them conceptualize mathematical ideas and use them in solving problems. A major in elementary and middle level mathematics will deepen your understanding of K-9 mathematics, of how students build their own understanding of K-9 mathematics, and of how K-9 mathematics contributes to the mathematics studied in high school and beyond. Teaching mathematics to elementary and middle school students allows you to make a difference in the lives of young people by empowering them to understand the world mathematically, use quantitative reasoning to make decisions in their lives, and expand their opportunities to choose interesting careers.
Minor in Mathematics, Mathematics/ Elementary, and Mathematics/ Secondary, and Middle Level Endorsement
