BIOL/CHEM/PHYS
Test Credits – AP or IB (continued)
• Non-science and Math AP accepted by majority of professional schools
• We recommend taking science prerequisites (BIOL, CHEM, and/or PHYS) for college credit
Rationale:
– AP credits are not graded, won’t be included in science gpa vs. earning A’s as college courses
– Schools that do accept science AP, typically require advanced courses in same content area
– Science content will be required for admission test for professional school (jr./sr. year at MU)
– Tuition is the same for 12 credits or more (full-time status) and professional schools like to see 15 credits or more a semester
Test Credits – AP or IB (continued)
o Registration considerations:
If you do not know your test results, register as if you are not
going to receive placement or credit. If you do receive credit,
you can drop/add courses as needed in CheckMarq.
If you know your test results, determine placement credit on
page 18 (AP) or 19 (IB) of the “Freshman Online Registration
Guide.”
o If same course is complete at MU, AP credits will be
removed

Planning Your Schedule
3 credit course usually meets 2-3x’s/week
o MWF for 50 minutes or TTh for 75 minutes
10 minutes between classes is sufficient time to
get to another class on campus
Try not to schedule more than three classes back to back
Schedule classes for each day of the week
Schedule science courses first
Schedule of Classes
SOC is is not used to register
for classes – only updated
each night (not real time)
Create a schedule with some
alternatives (schedule
planning grid in CHS folder)
Search courses by subject area,
UCCS, honors, service learning,
interdisciplinary, etc.
