TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
Stafford MSD celebrated National Teacher Appreciation Week. Teachers and staff at every
campus enjoyed a complimentary lunch with members of the Administration volunteering
to serve the lunches. A special thank you to Chief Academic Officer Tammy Boyette and
Executive Assistant Carolyn Finley for their efforts in making this event successful.
SMSD ED FOUNDATION AWARDS $27,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS
The Stafford MSD Education
Foundation awarded
$27,000 in scholarships to
20 Stafford High seniors.
They celebrated with a
reception on Thursday
afternoon.

Stafford MSD wishes Stafford Elementary School Principal
Dr. Valerie Orum the best in retirement at the end of the
2017-18 school year. Dr. Orum led Stafford Elementary to
new heights during her time as principal.
Dr. Orum took Stafford Elementary School to new heights
during her time here, with the school earning several
Texas Education Agency Distinctions and earning a Top 1
percent ranking for Elementary Schools in Texas.
We know she built a strong foundation for the future!

STAFFORD MIDDLE SCHOOL – DUKE TIP
Eighteen of our Stafford MSD Seventh Graders are part of the Duke TIP (Talent
Identification Program)! This program challenges the students academically and
prepares them for high school and college.
STAFFORD MSD/BEST BURGER – MOST COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS
In March, we started a contest
where Stafford High students with
the most community service hours
would be awarded a free combo
meal at Best Burger.
SHS freshman Kasey Riascos led
all students in community service
hours, and was presented with the
Best Burger reward by SHS
assistant principal Silas Garcia on
Tuesday.

High junior Ryan Martin during its Thursday

Martin will compete in the UIL State Track &
Field Championships on Saturday in the 100

BOYS TRACK WINS REGIONAL TITLEAfter winning District and Area

Championship with 96 points last Saturday
in Kingsville.
Several Spartans qualified for the UIL State

University of Texas in Austin.

Million Bond on Feb. 28.
• The remaining $10 Million will be sold in
2019, in a bank qualified option plan, as
recommended by our financial advisors,
RBC Capital.
• RBC Capital recommended two sales
instead of one, lowering the cost from

to $7.08 per month for taxpayers.

SPARTAN SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Stafford High is starting a new initiative, the Spartan Scholarship Assistance
Program. Our intent is to help high school students submit scholarship
applications in a timely and professional manner....
The goal of this initiative is to ensure our students are being awarded the
maximum number of scholarship dollars.
We need the community’s support. We need volunteers who can donate a
minimum of two (2) hours each month.

THE NEW STAFFORD MIDDLE SCHOOL
Stafford voters decided in November
that it was time to build a new Stafford
Middle School! The new Stafford Middle
School will house grades 6 through 8.
The current campus was built in the
1980's, and it's time for a change!
We included some 1980's Rock Music to
emphasize the point.
