Scored by three different people independently.

Group of three meet together to discuss their scores and analysis.

Group must come to a consensus score to apply to the writing.

Analysis notes can be shared with the student as feedback.

Read through the Grade 5 Literary Analysis Task.

Take any necessary notes from the two texts.

Think about the standards being assessed on this task.

Find the folder at the center of your table. Think about the standards being assessed

on the Grade 5 Literary Analysis Task. Read the highlighted section of the

Scoring Rubric as well as the Standards document.

Work as a team to match the standards to the specific parts of the rubric.

Write these standards on your rubric in the column on the right.

One person from each group will present the standard that matches their section of the rubric.

Use the empty column on your standards document to record any information about the matching standards.

Read through the second specified piece of the rubric.

Read the student writing sample contained in your folder.

Take notes in the analysis section of the Annotation Form according to your section of the rubric.

Discuss the analysis with your group and assign grades to the sample writing.

Use the poster paper on your table to collect the ideas of the group.

What parts of the writing demonstrated elements of your section of the rubric?

Where could this student have improved?

What score would you assign the student writing sample for your part of the rubric?

Choose to analyze a 3rd or 4th grade Literary Analysis Task (LAT) sample writing piece.

Independently score the sample writing piece for each topic of the rubric.

Take individual analysis notes on the Annotation Form.

Find two other participants that analyzed the same writing piece.

Engage in an analysis discussion of the sample writing piece.

Group members will come to a consensus score for the writing piece.

Share scores Discuss similarities and differences

between multiple groups with the same writing sample.
