My instructors treated me as though I was capable of changing the world, and they encouraged me to take ownership of my educational experience. RVC offers many extracurricular activities, and because the student body is smaller than that of the surrounding public schools, there are many opportunities to participate in leadership positions as well. Though shy my freshman year, I later became Cheerleading Captain and Student Council Secretary. Upon graduation I was offered admission to several UCs but chose to attend the local community college instead. Two years later, when my application to Georgetown University asked for a recommendation from my secondary institution, my RVC instructors were able to comment extensively on my achievements because they knew me personally and had kept in touch, even after my graduation. Now, as I walk through the Georgetown Campus, I know with certainty I would not be here today were it not for the challenging yet supportive academic environment found at Rincon Valley Christian School.” Kristen Ridgway RVCS class of 2007 (Now a junior at Georgetown University) “The academic rigor of RVCS provided me with the foundation I needed to become an effective and successful student at Texas A&M University. The work ethic, the self-discipline, and the quality of the materials studied while at RVCS equipped me with the knowledge and skills I needed to survive at university. Without a doubt, the single greatest gift RVCS gave me was the ability to write. When I arrived at university, my writing was levels above most of my peers. As a liberal arts major, I could not have survived without the writing as well as research skills I learned at RVCS.” Oliver Peter Thoma RVCS class of 2007 “RVCS played a critical role in my spiritual development. Bible teaching, positive peer environment, chapels, and spiritual enrichment opportunities at RVCS encouraged me in my commitment to the Lord.” Tanya (Passwaters) Mallan ’88 Speech-Language Pathologist “An academic setting like RVCS has obvious advantages. The school’s smaller size allowed my teachers to provide individualized attention to my class- mates and me. It also provided opportunities for me to become involved in numerous extracurricular activities from sports to student council which helped me develop teamwork and leadership skills.” Thomas Patterson ’92 California Deputy Attorney General “To this day I am so thankful for attending RVCS. California State University Preparatory Programs*** The requirements for the CSU are similar to the UC requirements except that foreign language is a two year minimum. Three years of math is a minimum requirement.

***NOTE: Regardless of what each educational system’s minimum requirements are the competition is so tight that the more college preparatory classes a student takes over the minimum requirements, the more competitive that student will be with others applying for the same freshmen spots.

    Student Government

RVCS has an active Student Government whose members are screened by faculty/staff and elected by students. Student Council members are responsible for planning and running the high school Fall Retreat as well as other all school activities such as Homecoming, Winter Banquet, all school outreach projects, and weekly chapels. They act as liaisons between the student body and the school administration often offering input from students’ perspective. The Executive Student Council consists of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasur-er, and two Chaplains. This group also meets weekly to plan and to study leadership principles. The Student Council Advisor oversees the Student Council.

    High School Program

Our High School program provides a comprehensive college preparatory program. Over 98% of RVCS graduates have elected to attend a college or university, and all have gained acceptance. The High School program is complete with each element designed to prepare the whole student academically, socially, physically, and spiritually. Graduation re-quirements follow the admission requirements for the California State University and the University of California system (UC approved). Our counseling staff will assist parents in determining the requirements that are most appropriate for their child’s needs and goals.

High School at RVCS extends far beyond the classroom. A wide choice of activities is provided to complement the qual-ity academic program. Students may choose to participate in athletics, performing arts, yearbook, student government, or theatre arts.
