SlovakiaThe Slovak Republic is in Central Europe.

Slovakia is bordered by the Czech Republic and Austria to the west, Poland to the north

Ukraine to the east and Hungary to the south.The largest city is the capital, Bratislava, and the

second largest is Košice.The official language is Slovak.

It has a population of over five milion.

HistorySlovakia was part of Great Moravia and next part

of Hungarian Kingdom.After long time it was part of Czechoslovakia.

Next in 1.1.1993 Slovakia became independent republic called Slovak Republic.

Nature

Mountains - High Tatras are a popular skiing destination in the North Slovakia.

We have lots of forests in Slovakia.The longest river is Váh.

We have lots of caves too.There are lots of lowlands, for example

„Východoslovenská nížina, Podunajská nížina“.

CultureThe best known Slovak hero, found in many

mythologies, is Juraj Jánošík.

Popular is folk tradition.Slovak national dish is „Bryndzové halušky“.

Our city Košice Košice is the second largest city in Slovakia.

It has population of over 240 000.The city centre and the most historical

monuments are located in or around the Main Street.

The most dominant historical monument of the city is Slovakia's largest church - Gothic St.

Elisabeth Cathedral.

Our school

This year 715 pupils aged 6 - 15 attend our school in 30 classes. 49 teachers care about

their education.
