§ PanelistsdescribedtheneedtoeducatereviewersinbothtranslationalresearchandCRANresearch,theneedtohaveanappropriatestructureinplace,moreconversationbetweenpreclinicalandclinicalinvestigatorsaboutpolysubstanceabuse,morefocusontheclinicaldilemmasregardingthemosteffectivetreatmentregimen.

§ CRANhasbeengoodbecauseithasprovidedaframeworkforbothpreclinicalandclinicalresearch,butperhapsmostimportantly,ithaselevatedthestatusofpolysubstancework,oftennotseenbeforeasvaluable.

§ CRANmaybemoreimportantforclinicalanddeliverysciencethanotherareasofsubstanceabuseresearch.BecauseofCRAN,barriershavebeenremovedandinvestigatorscanstudythingssuchase-cigarettes(bigepidemicinadolescentmedicine),co-morbiddepression,andprescriptiondrugs,alongwithalcohol.
