PBX-1 Architecture

Page 3: Collaboration update

PBX-1 Features

• Connected directly to the local base switch (SMEO) for PSTN, DSN, and FTS access via VoIP Gateway• All external Base DNs are forwarded from Cisco PBX-1 to Base Switch for call resolution

• Can use Private or Public IP address space for IP Phones, being no external connectivity from Voice network

• Server and Phone Certificates only required for IA for local STIGs, no external Certificates exchanged

Page 4: Collaboration update

Local Session Controller

Page 5: Collaboration update

Local Session Controllerwithout TDM PBX

Page 6: Collaboration update

Enterprise Session Controller

Page 7: Collaboration update

Local Session Controller Features• All Voice (or Video) traffic will traverse the SBC / IWG for inspection

• The SBC / IWG is recommended to use NAT function for Private to Public IP Address conversion• Recommended to use Private IP address space on the base, so that all Voice /

Video traffic must be NAT’d

• All Voice traffic from the Base Switch will go through the Cisco LSC to the DSN• Recommended for all PSTN and FTS traffic to use the local VoIP Gateways,

thus removing the the external connectivity of the Base Switch

• Certificates on Servers and Phones will be utilized to assure Secure and Assured Voice services up to the SBC / IWG

• The SBC / IWG will establish secure DSN connections directly to the MFSS / WAN SS using on-board certificates
