Project Activity (Scotland – Finland)
Lesson Plan and Review Template
Step 1 – Initiate Online Group
Initiate online contact with your international group partner(s) by agreeing on a forum through which you can communicate online and introduce yourselves. This ‘meeting’ can take place through social media, video conferencing, email or any other online tool.
Your introduction to each other could include the following information:
Your name; Brief description of past teaching experience; The level and subject of your current teaching practice (if applicable); and A brief description of your past experience with online communication tools.
Step 2 – Context Description
The first step of this activity is for Scottish participants to supply information about the class that they will be teaching / have taught. Please add content below under the following headings:
Your name:
1. In what community and institution is the class taking place?2. How many students are in the class?3. What age are the students?4. What is the cultural background of the students?5. Are there any particular student needs or characteristics that should be considered?6. What program and year of studies are the students in?7. What is the content / subject area of the course? (be as specific as possible)8. How much previous experience do the students have in this subject?9. What is the curriculum document that covers this course’s subject content (provide an internet
link of the curriculum document if available)?10. What are the course objectives (provide text or internet link if possible)?11. Insert an image of the classroom setting if possible and add any comments on
resources/equipment available.

12. If your video recording is of interactions with the class you describe, please indicate if you are happy to share this with Finnish participants (we will set up a private shared space in MyAberdeen where these can be uploaded).
13. Any other information (e.g. professional challenge under investigation for the course)

Step 3 – Lesson Plan
Finnish participants will design a lesson plan for a Scottish class context provided to you by your Scottish partner(s). Finnish students should co-create a lesson plan with their Scottish pair based on an educational theory for the context outlined above. Information about the lesson plan should be completed in the section below and include information concerning the following:

Deadline: Fill out the above information under Step 3 and send back via email to your group partner(s) and your tutor before <date>. Completed lesson plans will be then sent to your tutor for uploading onto the University Virtual Learning Environment.
Step 4 – Online Feedback (from Aberdeen)
Scottish students will provide feedback to the Finnish students focusing on how effective the Scottish students think that the lesson plan would work in the context that they are familiar with. Please provide feedback under the following questions.

1. Are the aims and objectives of the lesson clear and achievable?2. ‘Is it clear how the educational theory used underpins the lesson design? 3. Are the levels of students’ prior knowledge recognized and addressed?4. Does the plan demonstrate proper time management? (in other words: is the plan realistic for
the time given)5. Is there an appropriate variety of activities to engage all learners?6. Are students given opportunities within the plan to share and / or engage in a learning dialogue?7. Are there opportunities for formative assessment and feedback within the lesson plan? Are
these appropriate?8. Any other comments/feedback?
Also, arrange a time to discuss the above questions with your collaboration partner(s) before <date> in an online format that you decide together.

Please provide written feedback with respect to the questions in Step 4. You can send the final Word document with your written comments for Part 4 to your group partner(s) and your tutor by <date>.
Step 5: Teaching the Lesson (optional)
Scottish students are encouraged to teach the lesson plan (or an activity from this lesson) with their class. Note: if possible, please take video footage of your lesson and provide some reflective comments on how it went to your Finnish peer.
Step 6: Final Feedback and Reflection (from Finland)
Finnish students will provide feedback about the project during an online session organized for <date>. Scottish students will be invited to this session organized by OUAS. This session will involve Finnish students providing specific feedback concerning the Scottish students work to integrate the lesson plans

in teaching contexts in Scotland as viewed by either video or referenced from Finnish student reflections as well as comments on the overall online activity.
Questions covered during this session could include:
1. Did the planned activities appropriately relate to the classroom content?2. Was the lesson taught in Scotland? If so, describe the outcomes.3. Was the online collaboration effective to support the co-creation of a lesson plan and
develop pedagogical competences and technical competences?4. Any other comments/feedback
