École des Deux Mondes 851 Campbell River, British Columbia ...
Transcript of École des Deux Mondes 851 Campbell River, British Columbia ...
With the end of the school year coming up, it is a time to celebrate all of our
accomplishments since the beginning of September. Our successes are a result of the
commitment and encouragement of the entire school community. Thank you to our
parents, staff and community for your support and for providing valuable learning
opportunities to our students.
To thank all of our wonderful parents and grandparents for their involvement this year,
the staff would like to invite you to our Parent Appreciation Tea on Tuesday, June 14 at
8:15am in the library. If you are unable to attend, Willie and I will also be standing
outside to offer coffee and treats to parents dropping off their children in the parking
lot. Don’t forget your travel mugs that day!
As we bid farewell and good luck to the grade 5 students moving on to École Phoenix, we
look forward to welcoming our new kindergartens who will be starting in September. We
are already putting together plans for the upcoming school year. It is an exciting
planning time and the possibilities seem endless!
On behalf of the staff at Ecole des Deux Mondes, we wish you a safe and fun-filled
summer. Bonnes vacances!
Warm regards,
Nancy Hwang

Be Sun Smart
Too much sun exposure and especially sunburns in young children can cause
eye damage and can increase the risk of skin cancer in later years. Sun dam-
age is cumulative, which means that the damage builds up with each expo-
sure.
Those at highest risk of skin cancer are those with:
Fair skin and blond or red hair
Skin that burns and freckles easily and doesn’t tan easily
Lots of moles or large and unusual moles
History of severe sunburns
The good news is that skin cancer is almost totally preventable.
From late spring to early fall, avoid unprotected sun exposure between 11:00
a.m. and 4:00 p.m. If your children are outdoors between these times, teach
them to:
SEEK out the shade
SLIP on clothing that covers arms and legs
SLAP on a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses
SLOP on sunscreen with SPF #30 or higher
SLURP lots of water
