1 Dr Graham's Homes

Kalimpong, Darjeeling, West Bengal,734301, India

Founded in 1900 by Reverend JohnAnderson Graham, this is more of a livinginstitution than a mere building. A charityschool that was initially built for educate thechildren of tea-estate workers, these homesstand as a testimony to the presence of theChristian missionary school of thought inIndia, especially West Bengal. Growing fromstrength to strength, the school has nowaround 1500 students and a strong alumnipool, continuing to spread the cause ofeducation and literacy.

A beautiful, idyllic complex will welcomeyou when you enter its gates. Take a strollaround Dr Graham's Homes, while you soakin the cool breeze and the happy aura ofyoung, vibrant children around. The school

also houses a museum dedicated DrGraham and his wifeKatherine, commemorating their life'sdedication to this school.

The school is popular particularly for itsChapel, built in 1925. Walk up to thisbeautiful chapel and you'll feel like you'vereached the Scottish countryside. Withintricate stained-glass windows and a calmaura of spirituality, it is a literal treat for allyour senses.  

2 Thongsa Gumpha
