Our 50 cell Gro-Plugs® are one-year old trees when they arrive atyour business. We seed these in late February to early March andgrow them for one growing season. This line is always strong with theplants having many great uses. We sell them to some of the largestgrafting nurseries in the United States. These is a good chance thatwhen you are getting in your grafted spruce and pine trees, theystarted from our Norway Spruce and White Pine Gro-Plugs®. Theseplants make great grafting stock as well as starter plants in your fieldor to pot up.We use these Gro-Plugs® in our bare root evergreen fields. We have the best evergreen seedling plug available to the nursery in-dustry. Our seedling plugs have healthy vigorous tops and root sys-tems. Our growing trays are SureRoots 50 cell. It has Americanstandard tray measurements of 11 ¼” wide by 21 ½” long. Eachsquare cell measures 3.00” deep and 2.00” wide. Each cell hasridges along the sides, running from top to bottom to prevent root cir-cling. The bottom has a webbed opening for perfect air-pruned roots.

*Note: Normally pine and fir varieties run 2” to 5” in height andspruce 4” to 8”.(3 tray minimum; mix & match)

Healthy vigoruousplant, in balance withthe root system.

Growing trays have deepinward ridges to keeproots from circling.

Trays have large drainageholes to promote rootpruning and branching.

Time waits for no one … but these liners will wait for you!

Many of our customers have asked for a reasonably priced container liner that is wellbranched, has a heavy root system, and has a larger window of time for planting. We startwith a root-trained Gro-Plug® seedling or a rooted cutting. We pot into a 3½” square by 5”deep pot and grow them on to a two-year-old seedling or to a two-year-old cutting grown liner. This pot provides ample room for well-formed root development. The plants are spaced withthe necessary growing room to start forming healthy branches. Our cool, sunny summers andrelatively low humidty promote thick stems and heavy branches. They are grown outside duringthe growing season and stored in unheated polyhouses in the winter. One factor that makes our plants exceptional is our growing environment. Our evergreenquart liners are grown in an organic medium that encourages strong tops and heavy roots. Ournative strains of ectomycorrhizae develop in our Gro-Plug® and quart liners early. Mycorrhizaefungus forms a beneficial association with the roots to enhance water and nutrient uptake. Thisrelationship can be seen on the short feeder roots as a white threadlike mold. The roots andmycorrhizae work together to provide a healthier and larger plant. Plants will establish easierand grow faster in your nursery because of this beneficial fungus. The quart liner is the ideal starter plant for field or container planting. As a container liner inits own pot, it does not need to be planted immediately and will wait until you are ready. Weare confident you will find our evergreen quart liners a useful tool in your growing operation.Plants are sold 18 pots per flat. 3 tray minimum; mix & match.

We start our premier bed run liners by using our 50 cell Gro-Plugs® to plant out inthe field. We grow them for three to four more years to produce our finished prod-uct. Our cool summers and cold Wisconsin winters are the perfect environment forgrowing strong thick tops and heavy root systems. When we harvest our finishedbare root liners we normally find heavy mycorrhizae on the roots. Our growingconditions are ideal for the establishment of mycorrhizae. This native strain is a nat-ural occurring fungus that works with the root system to help the plants take upmore water and nutrients from the soil. The roots have visibly more branching thanplants grown without this beneficial fungus. More branching on the roots means afaster established plant with a rapid growth rate in your field or container produc-tion.Our cool summers help our evergreens have less stress than others in the summermonths, but our harsh winters ensure you are getting very hardy plants for your pro-duction. A double bonus! Our evergreens are harvested bed run. You will always be guaranteed straightleaders and the wonderful Evergreen Nursery root system we are known for. Grow-ing our evergreens in the field and harvesting fresh in spring can always leave thedoor open for some Mother Nature issues like winter burn. When this happens, keep in mind most of these imperfections will disappear with age.We have always had our niche in the market with this bare root line. If youhaven’t tried them yet, let us send you some samples so you can see the EvergreenNursery difference.

We start with our Gro-Plugs® and pot those into an air pruned ARPACC TM containers. These containers are the best that technologyhas out there right now for root systems. They offer a lateral root system, which prevents any circling, gives a 360° aeration and protects the root structure. These plants have superior root volume in this pot.We remove the pot before shipping and put on a cotton mesh bag that is 100% biodegradable.

We pot our premier bed run evergreens into a #5 container in a container mix in early fall of the previous year. The evergreensroot into the pots in fall at the ideal time for root establishment. Once the roots are partially established, they will provide the neces-sary energy for the plants to produce an excellent spring flush and a great root system. The advantages of the containerized bare root evergreen are a heavy natural field root system that has been pruned for heavybranching, little noticeable set back of new growth often associated with planting bare root directly into the field, and an expandedplanting time. These evergreen containers are ready to plant when you are. *No quantity discount applies.

We start our liners from our own softwood cuttings taken here at Ever-green Nursery in the summer months. Our cool growing season and rela-tively low humidity is perfect for rooting and growing cuttings. We have ahigh percentage of sunny days that rarely reach ninety degrees. We useless mist and need less disease control to grow plants with large tops andheavy root systems. Even though our plants may be pampered, our coldnorthern Wisconsin winters ensure the plants are as tough as can be.What a money maker this product could be for you. Pot these liners infall or spring and grow for one season and for most varieties you have acost effective container to sell that season or the following spring. Orplant in your field in spring and have them ready for your landscape jobsthe next season.Try a sampling of product this spring and see if this might work foryou. (3 tray minimum; mix & match)

All birch varieties are grown in the #3 REDIROOT TM pot. This unique pot offers a number of advantages over a standard pot. The open sides and bottom of the pot promote complete air pruning to produce a heavy well branched root system. This system also eliminates circling roots, developing a more natural root mass. The pot design allows perfect drainage and plentiful air exchange to prevent root pathogens andencourages strong vigorous roots. Plants are shipped without the pot in plant-ablebiodegradable mesh covers. This also reduces shipping weight and saves you money.Pots are reused year after year, helping the environment by reducing the amount of plastic used and entering landfills.Pots are planted with 4 stems per pot guaranteeing a minimum of 3 stems upon arrival.

Evergreen Nursery is pleased to offer our customers the highest quality nursery stock available. We make every effort to en-sure that the plant material you receive is fresh and ready to plant. We would like to offer some suggestions on the care andhandling of the stock you receive.

EVERGREEN BARE ROOT LINERSUpon arrival of evergreen bare root stock, inspect plant material and place in a cool, humid building or shaded location. If

the stock comes in plastic bales, usually via our semi trailer, they can remain in those bales for several days if you cannot plantimmediately. Water bales to insure roots are kept moist. Never leave bales or bare root plants in full sun, even during planting.

Stock arriving in pallet crates via an LTL common carrier, or boxes via a ground transportation method, must be unpackedimmediately and watered. If plants cannot be planted immediately, heel roots into moist soil or bark media material and keepmoist and shaded. If left in the crate or boxes, and not in a cooler situation, plants can heat up as they are packed tight.

BIRCH BARE ROOT LINERSBare root birch liners will arrive in boxes or pallet crates. Open and inspect plants immediately upon arrival. Keep the

plants in a cool, humid building or shaded location until planting. Roots should be covered and kept moist at all times. Avoidroot exposure to sun, wind, and freezing temperatures during planting.

Our bare root birch liners are harvested in fall and stored in special high humidity coolers. The specially designed coolersmake it unnecessary to sweat stock to promote bud break.

RIVER BIRCHRiver Birch grown in 38 cell trays are stored frozen. The root plugs may arrive frozen and should be allowed to thaw

before handling. Keep plants cool and moist in a building and away from direct sun until you are ready to plant.Sweating is unnecessary.

EVERGREEN GRO-PLUGS® IN 50 CELL TRAYSOur evergreen seedling Gro-Plugs® are healthy, vigorous plants with strong, well-branched roots. Upon arrival inspect and

water thoroughly. Plant as soon as possible. The plug should be slightly covered to avoid roots from drying out. Keep moistuntil plants establish (approximately 4 - 6 weeks) then water weekly depending on soil moisture or container media type.

DECIDUOUS 18 CELL LINERS, 15 CELL LINERS AND EVERGREEN 18 CELL LINERSOur potted liners offer you quality at an affordable price. The container grown liners suffer virtually no transplant shock and

extend your planting season. Inspect plants and water upon arrival. Before planting remove pot and rough up the root ball. Remove any circling roots. In many cases, the medium around the roots will fall away. This is beneficial to the root system allowing the roots to be in better contact with the soil or container medium and promote faster establishment. White mold surrounding the root ball is mycorrhizae and beneficial to the plant. Water after planting and then regularly as needed.

If you are unable to plant immediately be sure to water plants regularly.
