century;
• 426 folios;
• Copies of administrative
documents from the 900 to the
1289;
• Language: medieval Latin;
• 4 parts: inventory of the
Episcopal archive, Liber
Magister, Liber Iurium, later
edition of the Liber Magister.
A new printed Critical Edition?
• Previews attempts:
• Lupo Gentile (1912): mistakes, not complete, not scientific;
• Geo Pistarino (1940-2006): never completed;
• In 2014, Enrica Salvatori, than collaborator and now project manager, suggested a Digital Critical Edition;
• Reasons:
• Less expensiveness;
• In progress Image Based Edition;
• Collaboration with local historians;
• Searchable and open content;
• ....

1. Transcription of the documents and creation of the new critical edition

XML and the Standard TEI
Example of encoded text:
• Structural elements;
• Semantic elements: name entities, dates, roles (jobs or others).
EVT takes the encoded text and creates a nice visualisation to support the reading and the exploration of the content.

• Source of study for Medieval palaeography
• Extracted from the pages to create a section in the web site

Conclusions
Thanks to the DH, the Codice now is a living and interactive piece of history, sustained and supported by a large community of enthusiastic local historians and the accademia.
