A new printed Critical Edition?

• Previews attempts:

• Lupo Gentile (1912): mistakes, not complete, not scientific;

• Geo Pistarino (1940-2006): never completed;

• In 2014, Enrica Salvatori, than collaborator and now project manager, suggested a Digital Critical Edition;

• Reasons:

• Less expensiveness;

• In progress Image Based Edition;

• Collaboration with local historians;

• Searchable and open content;

• ....

• Users are mostly historians interested in the local history;

• People can read and study the manuscript from home without the need of a physical consultation;

• Fortunate and active collaboration between the team and the community of users through the Web Site:

• Contribute section for feedback, suggestion, opinions...

Example of encoded text:

• Structural elements;

• Semantic elements: name entities, dates, roles (jobs or others).

EVT takes the encoded text and creates a nice visualisation to support the reading and the exploration of the content.

Conclusions

Thanks to the DH, the Codice now is a living and interactive piece of history, sustained and supported by a large community of enthusiastic local historians and the accademia.
