• Realistic settings • Urban locations• Minimal amount of non diegetic sound if not

none. should only be put in for effect

• Realistic events and situations• Experience of real Britons• Establishing shots used at the beginning of

every scene so that the audience always knows where the scene is being taken place

• Hard luck• Working class heroes
