COURSE DESCRIPTION:CODE Ultrasound is a 2-day course that focuses on key point-of-care resuscitative ultrasound applications – what every emergency physician needs to know NOW! Lectures and hands-on tutorial sessions are specifically designed to help providers increase confidence with bedside ultrasound while caring for the sickest patients.Lectures offer in-depth discussions on the fundamentals of critical care ultrasound: physics, knobology & image orientation; emergency echocardiography with focus on left heart function, right heart strain, pericardial effusion and volume status; thoracic ultrasound; free fluid detection; aortic emergencies; DVT detection; procedural ultrasound guidance including vascular access; and challenging case reviews & discussions.

HANDS ON SESSION:Extensive hands-on scanning with experienced emergency physicians featuring a 4:1 student to instructor ratio with human models and procedural phantoms. Register early, space is limited.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:Upon completion of this course participants should be able to:

• Perform a focused ultrasound evaluation of the abdomen, main blood vessels, thorax and the adult heart.• Identify key ultrasound �ndings of normal cardiac function and dysfunction, pericardial e�usion, aortic aneurysm and dissection, and emergent intraperitoneal and thoracic conditions.• Perform ultrasound guided vascular access using the long and short axis approaches.• Use point-of-care ultrasound applications to improve diagnostic and treatment accuracy in the critically ill patient.
