Participants: NPDL Impact: The NPDL global partnership research initiative supported work we were beginning in HPEDSB through the launch of HPE Graduate Competencies: Globally Minded Learners and Leaders resource document, supporting deep learning and innovative teaching and learning K-12. The launch of NPDL began with 3 secondary and 4 elementary schools, all of which had 21st Century learning as a focus in their School Improvement Plans for Student Achievement and Well-being. As a district, we tracked school conditions and system conditions along the new measures continuums. Teachers monitored student growth around the 6 Competencies (Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity, Citizenship and Character). Contextual Information: Number of Schools: 7 Number of Educators: 53 Number of Students: 993 Number of School Leaders: 9 Number of System Leaders: 9 Impact of Professional Learning on Educators: Trends across the initiative indicate: CODE INNOVATION FUNDS - NPDL Participants: Cathy Portt, Superintendent of Education, Curriculum Services Tracy Demianchuk, Pathways Coordinator, Curriculum Services Focus: The CODE Innovation Funds were used to support the exploration of New Pedagogies for Deep Learning (NPDL) as a possible research based K-12 initiative for the district. Based upon travel to the NPDL Global Learning Lab in Seattle, Washington, USA and participation in three days of professional learning and networking, HPEDSB joined this global learning research project.
