Torrevieja will be celebrating Carnival this week with the two main parades taking place on Sunday 7th and Saturday 13th February. On Sunday 7th February at 4.00pm, the first of two parades gets underway. The Carnival Contest Parade starts from Plaza María Asunción, just outside of Mullins Irish Pub, and continues along Calle Ramón Gallud, past the Virgin del Carmen Cultural Centre, with the main focus being just in front of the Town Hall Square and finishing at Calle Patricio Pérez street. The more flamboyant night carnival takes place the following Saturday 13th February starting at 10.00pm and following the same route. The parade lasts about 90 minutes and thousands of people line the streets. Hundreds of kilos of sweets are thrown to the watching crowd and more than 1,000 people from many different school, clubs and associations take part. The night-time parade, has more of a Brazilian Samnadrome flavour to it, in that it can be a little more suggestive, but it's all down in good humour so get out there and enjoy Torrevieja's most colourful of fiestas. At about 10.50am on Saturday morning a large crane, that was moving material for some improvement works to the paving area of Caballero de Rodas, having just anchored at the junction of this road with the Calle San Pablo. The crane apparently exceeded its own maximum lifting power, when one of the straps attached to the 'arm' broke, causing the crane to swivel 180 degrees and causing minor damage on the second floor of the Caballero de Rodas, number two, with breakage around the window frame and breaking glass. Fortuitously the first floors of this building are offices that were empty and nobody was circulating in the vicinity at the time, which prevented what could have been a tragedy occurring. Almost immediately several patrol cars from the local Police cordoned off the area and blocked traffic. Subsequently, a vehicle from the Fire Department arrived and cleaned up the broken windows and so as to prevent further falling of glass, secured the tow truck. Although the damage around the street was numerous, no injuries were reported. Work on the Semana Santa Museum is dueto begin any day now but new plans and ideasfor the use of the building have come underfire from the Brotherhoods for whom thebuilding was built. The JMC accuses theMunicipal Government of unilaterallydeciding that the Semana Santa Museum willnow have 300 m2 less as an exhibition spaceas originally planned.

The Brotherhoods who will take to streets intheir first major carry on March 21st, say theyare “shocked by the total lack of dialogue andnews in this regard, since all the informationthat they have received has just been throughleaks to media and press releases. With 300 m2less exposure and two floors of undergroundparking, it seems that, as in the past, they wantto send Christians to the catacombs. "

The president of the Board of Mayor Brotherhoods ofTorrevieja, Jesus Sanchez Seva, in the press releaseissued by the local government in the distributiondetailing what was to be the new Museum of the HolyWeek, explained that the pentapartito have made aunilateral decision that will eliminate about 300 squaremeters of exhibition area of Torrevieja's brotherhoodheritage. According to the Land Registry, the propertythat is now intended to be the Museum on CalleFormentera has an area of just over 920 m2. "With thetwo floors we are now being offered we would have 631m2, almost 300 less than we have now, where we arealready fully saturated", said the President. However, twobasement floors are offered, but here you cannot placean exhibition, as they are designed for storage andplaced eleven meters below street level. The decision ofthe Municipal Government also leaves the Board of

Mayor Guilds without any office or place to dopaperwork or as a meeting room, which itself is availableto the current Museum.”

Jesus Sanchez has expressed the "unpleasant feeling"that has meant learning permanently about the futureof the museum through leaks to the media and pressreleases. The pentipartido, who by their own admissionconsists of some councillors, including the mayor, whodo not wish to attend religious events, see the plannedSemana Santa Museum as a "multi-purpose property"that will have to be modified because it does nottechnically fit the new purposes that the pentapartitowants. Furthermore, he was "astonished" at the lack ofdialogue with the JMC on this issue, for what is stillwaiting for a meeting was requested with thecouncilman of Culture. "Such has been the lack of tactwith a simple visit to the current units and an exchangeof views -considers the president would have been

sufficient to ensure that the proposal is whollyinadequate to house the heritage of Holy Week, which only looking at thrones alone, has more thantwenty."

The president of the processions said it has thefeeling that "ideologies have prevailed in thisdistribution, rather than economic efficiency orutility of the building, because the new museumwould become a cultural and tourist reference tothe city." "With less than 300 m2 exhibition and twofloors underground it seems that, as in other times, you want to send Christians to the catacombs"concluded Sanchez Seva. In this situation, the Boardof Mayor Guilds will convene a meeting of Plenumof the entity, citing the Executive Committee,Presidents of the fourteen fraternities and olderbrothers, to approach the City Council to keep the

current Museum or reconsider the space offered asinsufficient." The Board of Mayor Guilds, asks for theMuseum to be completed and that it is intended for thepurpose it was designed.

It should also be remembered that the currentmuseum opened in 1991, and since then, the steps andfixtures of the 14 fraternities have multipliedexponentially. Therefore, the new building for theMuseum of the Holy Week would, as was projected atthe time, a space with a real museum concept, which islacking in the current infrastructure. The JMC is bettingthat the new museum will serve to take a decisive step,to have a living building, at the forefront of this type ofspace, the disclosure of assets (embroidery, jewellery, carving, music, audio-visual and imagery) is rotating andgo progressively changing, presenting a permanent, according to the current size of our processions andalways towards Torrevieja's renewal.

With the new addition of the Cityof Salt, there are now 131municipalities that are part of thisproject as announced by CouncillorAdrian Ballester. As from last week, the municipality of Torrevieja is partof the Moderniza 7.0 Plan of theProvincial Council of Alicante, anincorporation that will to allow theprovincial government to implementan efficient electronic administrationthrough various activities includingMunicipal Web portal, digitalsignature, stamp body, assetmanagement, licensing agreements, software and local council in thecloud are just some of the servicesthat they can now offer thetorrevejense local authority via theInternet.

The incorporation of this Torreviejaprogram is the result of negotiationscarried out previously for the populationto offer its residents the opportunity tomake various transactions via Internet. The provincial institution acts as yourpartner, making available to the workersin this local administration, technical andhuman tools needed. Ballester specifiedthat "this program has already 131municipalities of Alicante, of the 141 thatmake up the province, which have joined

the project of the provincial governmentthat generates more than six millioneuros in municipalities savings."

The technological support providedby the Computing Service of theProvincial Council of Alicante alsoincludes the development of a Mapsportal, which includes tourist andcommercial information of themunicipalities, as well as mobileapplication MunicipApp ALC, which isable to connect in real time with thecorporate website of municipalities withaccess to information from any mobile

device. Also, theprovincial institution willoffer continued technicalassistance provided tocouncils to help themresolve any queriesimmediately.

"There are alreadymore than 160 webportals designedthrough the council, both for municipalities asfoundations and touristbodies, creating a moreflexible management ofadministrativeprocedures and a moreaccessible service,

operating 24 hours a day", pointed outthe deputy, who stated that "the ultimatebeneficiary of the implementation ofthese benefits is always the citizen whocan access a nearby and usefuladministration, according to their needs."

Moreover, the Provincial Council ofAlicante is offering a series of workshopsacross the province to facilitate the

adaptation of the consistory to theTransparency Act and its implementationin the local administration, a service thatthe provincial government providesmunicipalities adhering to the Plan forModernization. The municipalities ofCocentaina, Villena, Denia and Rojaleshave held these days already. In thissense, Ballester explained that "in recenttimes the public administration isundergoing a series of legislativechanges which logically require specifictraining and is why the Council ofAlicante has been involved in helpingmunicipalities to adapt to the new lawand expose the tools, resources and toolsthat will facilitate this process."

However, one should be quick to pointout that even after six months in power, the city's www.Torrevieja.es website isstill in need of many updates, is withoutany contact information for councillorsand has been criticized for its lack oftransparency and lack of ease of use bythe Valencian government. One can buthope that this will bring the program upto scratch.

By Andrew AtkinsonLos Montesinos, Quesada, Villamartin,

Campoamor, Benijofar, Los Altos andTorrevieja have all been featured on TV inthe last few weeks - in the midst of anincrease in property sales in Spain.Figures represented nearly 35,000properties were sold in Spain inNovember 2015 - an increase of 7.3%from the previous 12 months, with 18months on-going sales, according to theGeneral Council of Notaries.

Having purchased a property in the'boom' era of 2004 I can confirm propertyprices in many areas can be purchasedtoday up to 50% cheaper. However, inrecent years, where prices really hit 'rock-bottom' with sales being snapped up foras little as 30,000 euros - yes 30,000 euros- those days appear to have ended. A 2bedroomed, 1 bathroom apartment, withsolarium, was sold at auction for 30,000euros. Also 2 bedroomed properties inthe region of 45,000 euros have also beensold on the South Costa Blanca

Figures show Apartment salesregistered an increase of 6.2% year-on-year; the increase in sales of free priceapartments being +8.3%; and sales ofsecond hand apartments +12.2%. Incontrast the number of transactions onnew build housing declined for the 10thconsecutive month, to -18.6%. Figures forfamily homes in November increased

+11.4% being the ninth consecutivemonth increase.

Popular TV programmes like 'A Place inthe Sun' - who have been filming in LosMontesinos and surrounding areas - hasonce again lead to interest from ex-patsin buying a bargain property, withreductions of up to 50% remaining insome areas, from that of the 'boom' era,and prior to the crash in circa. 2008.

New mortgage loans increased by7.3% year-on-year in November, to25,681 transactions. A moderate increaseof 2.4% year-on-year, being the lowestincrease in 18 months. The Vega Bajatown of Los Montesinos, Alicante, seesprices vary - from 2.5m euros for a 5bedroomed Villa - to that of a 1bedroomed apartment, at approximately40,000 euros. Prices fluctuate, from 1.5meuros, 1 million euros, in the upperechelons; to 165,000-120,000 euros for a3 bedroomed detached Villa. A 2bedroomed, 1 bathroom apartment canbe purchased for approximately 63,000euros. *Prices at January 28, 2016. Pricescan vary from region to region.

Terry Wogan passed away on Sunday. As theBBC wrote about one of their most lovedBroadcasters, or as he preferred to be called'narrowcasters': “His genial manner and Irishblarney made Sir Terry Wogan a much-lovedbroadcasting institution. He was a master of thelive event, whether hosting his chat shows orcompering Children in Need. His jocularmanner, and flights of whimsy, helped himbuild an audience of eight million for his radioshows. An easy-going man off air, as well as on,he remained remarkably untouched by fame, fortune or any whiff of scandal.

Michael Terence Wogan was born in Limerickon 3 August 1938, the son of a grocery shopmanager. He admitted that he had not reallyapplied himself at school. "I only ever didenough to pass exams," he said. "I never had anycapacity for preparing for anything. That's why I'm solucky to be in a job where I make it up as I go along."Wogan left school in 1956 and briefly worked in abranch of the Bank of Ireland, close to Dublin's cattlemarket. Radio lured him away from his ledgers and hegot a job as a newsreader and announcer with Irishbroadcaster RTE after answering a newspaperadvertisement. He spent his first two years working onnews and documentaries but then moved across to lightentertainment. He did a stint as a radio DJ before beingchosen to host Jackpot, a quiz show that provedimmensely popular on RTE during the 1960s. However, the show was dropped in 1967 and Wogan approachedthe BBC to see if they would give him some work.

He made his debut on the Light Programme, nowRadio 2, and in 1969 was asked to stand in for Jimmy

Young on the mid-morning show. This led to a regularafternoon slot on Radio 1 which, because of financialrestrictions, shared some of its output with Radio 2. By1972 Radios 1 and 2 had completely split and Wogantook over the breakfast show on Radio 2 which had beenpresented by John Dunn. He became an immediate hit.His whimsical style suited an early-morning audiencewanting to be woken gently with a bit of banter andeasy-listening music.

By this time his name had been linked to the BBC'scoverage of the Eurovision Song Contest. He coveredthe extravaganza for radio in 1971 and would providethree more radio commentaries in the 1970s. But it wasfor his television coverage, his first was in 1973, that hebecame most famous. From 1980-2008 he was theindispensable television voice of the contest for millions

of listeners. His acerbic descriptions of both contestants

and hosts, together with his often-expressedirritation at the way groups of countries alwaysvoted for each other, chimed with a Britishaudience who have never taken the contestseriously.

One series of What's on Wogan? ran during1980 and the following year, a one-off showfeaturing an appearance by Dallas star LarryHagman helped to raise Wogan's profile evenmore. Between 1982 and 1992 he hostedWogan, a chat show that was eventually beingbroadcast on three evenings a week. At thesame time Wogan was hosting the quiz show,Blankety Blank, as well as anchoring the BBC'scharity appeal, Children in Need, which wasfirst broadcast in 1980 and which he continued

to host after his retirement from regular broadcasting. In1992 the BBC dropped his chat show for the ill-fatedsoap, Eldorado. He returned to the Radio 2 breakfastshow after an absence of nine years. The show wasaimed at an older audience, whose members becameknown as TOGs, Terry's Old Geezers or Terry's Old Gals.

He made a foray into the recording studio in 1978recording a version of the Floral Dance which he sangover a backing by a brass band. He also published anumber of books. He was given a knighthood in 2005.Because Ireland was not a republic when he was born,he held British as well as Irish citizenship and so wasentitled to the honorific, Sir. Wogan was typically self-deprecating about his own success. "A lot depends onluck, and being in the right place at the right time; whichwas certainly true in my case."

Sir Terry says goodbye

By Andrew AtkinsonMallorca Football Academy is staging

its first Football trials in Dublin, Ireland, under the watchful eye of former playerMichael Keane, Recruitment managerIreland for the Mallorca FootballAcademy, Spain. "The Dublin Trials areopen to everyone - we have all differentnationalities at the Academy - of whichthere are 23 players," Michael told TheCoastRider. "The trials will have trainingand being involved in various matches, with each player having as much equalgame time, and an opportunity to makebig impressions - not only to the MallorcaAcademy - but various club scouts too!,"said Michael.

I first met Michael when he played formy home City club Preston North End -having turned down the chance to joinSpurs and Manchester City - to move TheLilywhites. Michael joined Preston NorthEnd, aged 16, when signed by ex-Preston,Everton, Manchester United and RealSociedad manager David Moyes. "I lovePreston - my heart and pride was wearingthe shirt. I had trials at TottenhamHotspur and Manchester City, amongother clubs," Michael told The CoastRider:"I chose Preston - ahead of ManchesterCity and Spurs - good offers from two bigclubs. I got on well with David Moyes, andhe said the offers Spurs and City hadmade, would not be matched at Preston,"said Michael.

"David Moyes was determined andcommitted - that rubbed off on me.Manchester City and Spurs could go outbuy players - spend money. Prestonlooked to their youth set-up. And I wastold, if I do well, I would getopportunities," said Michael. MichaelKeane has been informed by TheCoastRider of the plethora of youngtalented players of different nationalitieson the Costa Blanca South. "All interestedapplicants can apply through me. Allplayers must be 16 years or older. Placesare limited and subject to availability,"said former Republic of Ireland u20 andu21 star Michael.

"There will be scouts from variousprofessional clubs in attendance at theDublin trials," said Michael, who playedfor Preston, Grimsby (loan), Hull City, and

Rotherham, during 2000-07."I have been in contact with a

Peterborough United Football ClubScout and he is going to be at the trialstoo," said Michael. "If the Scouts inattendance are interested in a player atthe trials, then the sky could well be thelimit," said Dublin born Michael.

"There will also be the MallorcaAcademy information table set up on theday of trials - and all catalogues and fullinformation will be available on requestat the venue," said Michael. "This is theopportunity to be scouted - if you feelyou have what it takes - and want to takeit to the next level," said Michael, whoended his career at League of Ireland clubSt Patrick's Athletic in 2008.

By Andrew AtkinsonLos Montesinos Virgin del Pilar public

school students staged a composition of'Paz' - to mark the World Peace Day 2016 -organised by teachers and pupils. WorldDay of Peace (World Peace Day) is a feastday of the Roman Catholic Churchdedicated to peace, held on the Solemnityof Mary, Mother of God. The Message ofHis Holiness Pope Francis for theCelebration of the XLIX World Day ofPeace 2016 was to overcome indifference and winpeace. "God is not indifferent! God cares about mankind!God does not abandon us!" said Pope Francis, speakingfrom The Vatican.

"At the beginning of the New Year, I would like toshare not only this profound conviction but also mycordial good wishes for prosperity, peace and thefulfilment of the hopes of every man and every woman, every family, people and nation throughout the world, including all Heads of State and Government and allreligious leaders. We continue to trust that 2016 will seeus all firmly and confidently engaged, on different levels,in the pursuit of justice and peace," said Pope Francis.

"Peace is both God’s gift and a human achievement.

As a gift of God, it is entrusted to all men and women, who are called to attain it. Sadly, war and terrorism, accompanied by kidnapping, ethnic or religiouspersecution and the misuse of power, marked the pastyear from start to finish," said Pope Francis.

The Pope added: "In many parts of the world, thesehave become so common as to constitute a real 'thirdworld war fought piecemeal'. Yet some events of the yearnow ending inspire me, in looking ahead to the NewYear, to encourage everyone not to lose hope in ourhuman ability to conquer evil and to combat resignationand indifference. They demonstrate our capacity toshow solidarity and to rise above self-interest, apathyand indifference in the face of critical situations. I would

like to make a threefold appeal to theleaders of nations: to refrain fromdrawing other peoples into conflicts orwars. Wars which destroy not only theirmaterial, cultural and social legacy, butalso, and in the long term, their moraland spiritual integrity; to forgive ormanage in a sustainable way theinternational debt of the poorer nations;and to adopt policies of cooperation, which instead of bowing before the

dictatorship of certain ideologies, will respect the valuesof local populations and, in any case, not provedetrimental to the fundamental and inalienable right tolife of the unborn, I entrust these reflections, togetherwith my best wishes for the New Year, to the intercessionof the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother, who cares for theneeds of our human family, that she may obtain from herSon Jesus, the Prince of Peace, the granting of ourprayers and the blessing of our daily efforts for afraternal and united world.”

Locally, hundreds of spectators from the Vega Baja,Alicante town gathered to witness the Los MontesinosVirgin del Pilar public school student’s composition of'Paz' to mark the World Peace Day 2016.

Spain’s Princess Cristina has lost anappeal to have criminal charges againsther dropped so that she may not facetrial.

A court in Madrid released a report onFriday saying that a panel of judgesrejected Cristina’s argument that sheshould not be tried.

Princess Cristina’s lawyers hadpreviously argued that as publicprosecutors refused to press chargesagainst her, the counts against hershould be dropped.

The court has confirmed that theprincess will face trial for tax fraud in acorruption trial that also ensnared herhusband and 16 others.

The case revolves around the shadybusiness dealings conducted by aPalma-based charitable organization, the Noos Institute – which is chaired byCristina’s husband – Inaki Urdangarin,

from 2004 to 2006.If found guilty, the 50-year-old sister

of Spain’s King Felipe VI could face amaximum of eight years in jail.

The Spanish princess has repeatedlydenied knowing anything about thealleged embezzlement scam.

The case was launched in 2010 by ajudge investigating corruptionallegations among authorities onBalearic Islands. It has emerged highlysymbolic of perceived corruptionamong Spain’s elites, including the royalfamily.

Last year, Felipe stripped Cristina andher husband of their titles as the dukeand the duchess of Palma de Mallorcafollowing their indictment.

Princess Cristina remains the sixth inline to the Spanish throne and is the firstmember of the royal family to go on trial. She now lives in Switzerland.

In 2005, Heras initially gained thedubious distinction of being the firstGrand Tour winner to be stripped of histitle following his reported positive test.In 2012, he later recovered his Vuelta aEspaña title – which had been awarded,in his place, to runner-up Denis Menchov– after Spain’s Supreme Court, thecountry’s highest judicial authority, confirmed a previous legal ruling from2011 that there had been irregularities inthe testing procedure, which annulledthe two-year ban and penalty.

Now Heras has won another legalbattle, after a Spanish court has awardedhim €724,000 in compensation for loss ofearnings. After being fired by LibertySeguros, his team of the time, and hissubsequent suspension in 2005, Heraswas unable to continue his career.

Enriqe Bastida, the head of Spain’santi-doping agency, AEPSAD, stronglyexpressed his dissatisfaction with thesentence to Spanish newspaper MARCA,describing it as “unthinkable, in this dayand age. With all due respect to the

courts, doping is not something for legaldebate, it’s an ethical issue.”

During his career as a top climber,Heras won the Vuelta a España a record-breaking four times, in 2000, 2003, 2004and 2005, racing with Kelme, US Postaland Liberty Seguros. Now 41, he races innon-professional MTB events.

The latest sentence will now almostcertainly be subject to an appeal, localmedia reported on Saturday, meaning adefinitive outcome will not be reacheduntil around 2018, more than 12 yearsafter his positive test.

But the seemingly interminable timelapse in reaching such verdicts isanything but new for Spanish dopingcases. On Saturday, MARCA said that thelong-awaited final verdict on the appealfor the Operación Puerto anti-dopinginvestigation will not now be publishedin January, as had been widely claimed, because the three judges overseeing thecase have been unable to reach anagreement on what that verdict shouldbe.

MAJOR supermarket chain Mercadonahas hotly denied rumours it has beenreplacing home-grown and nationally-produced groceries with poor-qualityversions imported at a fraction of theprice.

“It could be you have read online, orheard through social networks, thatMercadona is removing Spanish producein favour of foreign goods, or thatSpanish groceries are being taken off theshelves – but this information is totallyfalse,” a statement by the chain's PRdepartment on its web page says.

The chain, which started out life in theprovince of Valencia as a family-runcorner shop and has now made itsfounder Juan Roig the third-richest manin Spain, has denounced a smearcampaign which is urging customers toshop elsewhere, accusing Mercadona oflegal, but borderline unethical practices.

To counter these claims, thesupermarket has given a full breakdownof who makes its various own-brandgoods, such as the household cleaningproduce line Bosque Verde, cosmeticlabel Deliplus, and food nameHacendado.

It is not true that the pumpkins comefrom Panamá, potatoes from Israel, oliveoil from Morocco, oranges from

Argentina or sunflower seeds from China, insists the corporation, which buys thelion's share or even 100% of groceriesproduced by its partner firms.

To obtain fresh produce, Mercadonaworks with 12,000 fishermen, 6,000 farmsand 4,000 livestock breeders.

It also does major trade with 120suppliers, spread throughout 220factories across the country.

“Our olive oil comes from a producer inthe province of Sevilla, which can bevouched for by the independent quality-control agency Det Norske Veritas,”Mercadona assures.

“We stock oil from traditionalproducers in the regions of Andalucía,Catalunya, Murcia, Valencia, Madrid,Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura.”

Spanish supermarkets buying oranges

abroad would effectively becarrying coals to Newcastle,as Mercadona points out innot so many words.

The Valencia region is anorange-growing hotspot, producing more of the fruitthan it can sell or even harvest– but by August, the cropcycle is well and truly overuntil the autumn and the fewleft hanging on the trees are

of very poor quality. This is the only time Mercadona

imports oranges – when they cannot getany in Spain – and they come fromArgentina.

“And we only ship in potatoes fromIsrael when they do not grow at home, which is from November to April,” thecompany clarifies.

As for the so-called borderlineunethical practices in terms of workers'rights which Mercadona has beenaccused of at the same time, the firmhighlights its reputation as one of thefairest and most modern, forward-

thinking employers in Spain.Whilst other national firms were losing

profits hand over fist during the worstyears of the recession, Mercadona wasone of those which stayed in the blackand actually thrived.

Some of its branches in major citieshave a free crèche for staff's children, over90% of workers are on permanent, full-time job contracts – the only exceptionsbeing back-up temps in high season –and the company's minimum wage for a40-hour week is €1,200 a month, a figureit assures is only paid to new andinexperienced staff who will beguaranteed pay rises throughout theircareer.

Mercadona was also one of the firstmain supermarket chains to offer homedelivery and online shopping, as well as astore card which can be paid off inarrears, and customer service training.

Its standards improved still furtherduring the financial crisis – if a queuereaches more than three or four people atthe checkout, a staff member will becalled immediately to open another till.

A Spanish policeman has beensuspended for five days after refusing topay a brothel he was trying to visit withcolleagues and a member of thecountry’s national intelligence agency, ithas been reported.

According to Spanish newspaper ElPais, all of the men were off-duty and notwearing uniform when they visited theestablishment named 'Supermodels' inNoain, northern Spain, in January 2012.

A court document read: “The sergeant, who showed signs of having consumedan excessive amount of alcohol, tried toenter without paying, which wasprevented by the doorman of thepremises.”

When asked to pay an entry fee by the

brothel's bouncer, the policemanreportedly produced his badge, said hewas on a police operation, andthreatened to arrest him, saying: “I knowwhere you live and if I want to I can putyou behind bars this very night.”

After repeatedly refusing to pay, thegroup was confronted by the brothel’sowner, who eventually called the police.

Spanish police were recently told thatthey cannot visit strip clubs while on dutyand in uniform after a ruling by thecountry’s Supreme Court. The decisionwas handed down following an appealby a police officer in Toledo who wasdisciplined for visiting a strip club duringa shift. He was suspended without payfor six months.

Spanish GDP grew0.8% in the final quarterof 2015, the same rateas the previous threemonths, according to apreliminary estimatereleased by theNational Institute ofStatistics on Friday. Thefigure suggests that theeconomy grew by 3.2%in 2015, more evidencethat Spain’s recently-beleaguered economyis finally gathering pace. A day earlier, jobs data pointed to a record drop inunemployment in 2015, which endedwith 525,100 more people in work than12 months earlier. However, this stillrepresents an unemployment rate ofover 20%, one of the highest in Europe.

Friday’s ‘flash’ estimate did not breakdown the components of GDP but“economists see consumers as the maindriver of the recovery, benefiting fromimproved financing conditions, faster jobcreation and renewed confidence,”Bloomberg reported.

The European Commission forecaststhat the Spanish economy will grow by2.7% in 2016, the seventh fastest rate inthe euro area but first among its majoreconomies and well above the estimateof 1.8% for the single-currency zone as awhole.

The news comes at a time of politicaldeadlock in Madrid, where it remainsunclear which party or parties will form agovernment following December’sinconclusive election.

Mariano Rajoy, leader of the centre-right People’s Party and acting primeminister, described Thursday’sunemployment figures as “the best inhistory”. He has pinned his hopes ofremaining in government on thestrength of Spain’s recovery.

Mr. Rajoy, who has rejected calls to tryto form a minority government andwants instead to forge a grand coalition, blamed Socialist Party leader PedroSánchez for Spain’s political stalemate. “Iam not an obstacle,” he told reporters.“The obstacle here is Pedro Sánchez whowants to become prime minister. I call onhim to make a decision.”

16 CoastRider - Edition 470 - March 5th 201316 Entertainment

Who are you and what do you do?I'm Mister X - a professional magician, who does

general magic, illusion manipulations and illusion withlarge equipment.

How did you start in the business?I started as a circus variety artist in variety shows

venues around Bulgaria, since I graduated at the UniqueCircus School in Moscow, Russia.

What would you be doing if you were not anentertainer?

For me the stage is everything and I love to performon it! I love my job as a magician! Anyway, I'm also a civilengineer, so I do have an alternative job.

As an entertainer who has been your biggestinfluence?

I was mostly influenced by the son of the legendaryBulgarian magician Miti, called Julian. I got attracted byhis tricks and illusions and that determined my futurelife.

Do you ever get nervous or have you sufferedstage fright?

When I started, I was concerned about my firstappearances on stage about how the audience wouldreact, and worried that if someone in the audience isillusionist with more experience than me and whatwould he say. But with the time I was seeing theaudience's reaction and become more confident. I lovethe stage and the audience and have no worries nowwhatsoever. Even when I run a new magic trick I'm notworried as I know I have practised it many times and ithas been refined in order to make sure that everythingwould run smooth.

What was your best moment? For me, the best time is after every applause of the

audience. This is the criteria for each artist. What has been your worst moment? At the first Balkan Festival of Magicians I had to open

the festival. When I got announced, I appeared on stage

and the wrong music was playing which threw me for amoment, I looked at the show director and I nodded tothe audience, and invited my assistant on stage. Mycorrect music started with my performance. Theaudience didn’t notice that. Later on I’ve found that thedirector had had informed the sound master about theproblem which was solved within seconds.

What’s the best piece of advice you have receivedor would give someone starting out in the business?

I've received a lot of advice from colleagues and showdirectors. I'd share them with younger colleagues – themagic tricks have to be performed in front of anaudience only after one is 100% sure and confident thatthe performance would run smooth. The hands have todo the magic trick instinctively, otherwise the audiencewould notice that the magician is not prepared.

Any little anecdotes or interesting stories?A. I was working in a variety complex with a live

orchestra, playing with real cigarettes and throwingthem on the floor. One cigarette’s spark fell on themagical towels on my table, so they got on fire. When Iturned around I saw the guitarist trying to extinguishthe burning towels stamping them with his feet.

Mister X is available for table magic, magic andillusion shows as well as grand scale illusions. Take a lookat his web page on ArtistsDirect – Spain.com and phoneto book him direct.

Every time you pick up amagazine or read a newspaperyou're bound to see a bunch ofads or even articles praising anew diet or a "miracle way" tolose weight. The Glycemic Indexis not one of these. It's not a flyby night diet scam that promisesresults and leaves you withnothing but false hope. TheGlycemic Index is aboutmeasuring the quality, notquantity of carbohydrates andranking them according to howquickly they raise your bloodsugar levels.

Blood sugar (glucose) level is theamount of glucose (sugar) in theblood. For the sake of our health,blood-glucose levels need toremain within certain levels. Thebody regulates these bloodsugar levels using twomechanisms: hunger andinsulin. The websitehttp://www.carbs-information.com explains:• When blood-glucose levels fall, the brain causes us to feelhungry. Result? We eat food thatis converted into glucose andour blood sugar levels rise. If we

don't eat and blood-glucoselevels fall too low, we trigger thecondition known ashypoglycaemia.• When our blood-glucose levelsrise, the brain tells our pancreasto release insulin. Result? Theinsulin helps to disperse theglucose and our blood sugarlevels fall. Without insulin toregulate a rise in blood-glucose,the amount of sugar in ourbloodstream can become toxic, triggering the condition knownas hyperglycaemia. Carbohydrates, which includefoods such as fruit, vegetables, starches, grains and cereals etc.,have an effect on the body'sblood glucose levels. Whencarbohydrates are digested, they release glucose into thesystem, providing energy. Whenyou eat carbohydrates that rankhigh up on the Glycemic Index, they release too much energyinto the system too quickly, commonly called an "energyspike". This spike is also followed

by a rapid energy low. If thisenergy cannot be used, it getsstored as body fat.The Glycemic Index rankscarbohydrates on how quicklythey break down duringdigestion. Foods that breakdown the quickest, resulting in afaster digestion and rapidenergy spike have a high GIvalue. High GI foods rank in atabove 70 points on the GlycemicIndex. Foods that take longer todigest, resulting in a slowerrelease of energy into thesystem has a lower GI value. LowGI foods rank in at under 55while intermediate GI foods rankin at between 56 – 69.For optimal results from yournutrition, you should aim to eatlow to intermediate GI foodsand avoid the high GI foodswherever possible. You will findthat low and Intermediate GIfoods tend to provide you moresustained energy levels, keeping

you full and satisfied for longerperiods.Foods with a Low GI value• Blueberries • Grapefruit • Kiwi fruit • Cherries • White grapes • Oranges • Prunes • Tomatoes • Cucumber • Beans • Squash • Peas • Lentils Foods with a high GI value• Sugar • Honey • Pineapple • Watermelon • Potato • Dates • White rice • Bread • Other processed foods likemuffins, cookies, cakes etc.

1.) Visit your dentist every six to 12 months to keepyour mouth free of plaque build-up. It's also a good ideato tell him/her what medication you're taking, as somecan cause bad breath.

2.) Quit smoking. It's not only hazardous to yourhealth and those around you, but to your teeth as well.Smoking turns your teeth yellow by leaving sticky tardeposits which can also cause brown stains.

3.) Drink less coffee, tea and red wine. These drinksonly add to the discoloration of your teeth.

4.) Watch how much garlic and spicy food you eat —but beware also of less obvious food offenders, likemeat, dairy, onion and sugar. Keep a food log to identifywhat affects your breath.

5.) Brush your teeth and tongue twice a day. The besttimes to brush are after you've had breakfast in themorning and just before you go to bed.

6.) Floss once a day, preferably in the evenings.Flossing helps to remove plaque build-up between theteeth and can also help to prevent under the surface

stains. Flossing also helps to preventdecay between the teeth — a commonplace for it to form.

7.) Use a fluoride mouthwash withantiseptic ingredients and a mintyflavour to help mask odour problems.

8.) Choose toothpaste that suits yourneeds. If you're a fan of organic, thereare even organic toothpastes on themarket.

9.) A white smile does wonders foryour complexion and your self-esteem.Ask your dentist about a whiteningtreatment. While this process is veryexpensive, the costs may seem minimalwhen your smile is putting a hamper onyour quality of life. The professionalsystem takes about one hour and is generally done atyour dentist's office. Alternatively, try an at-home kit, available from healthcare stores.

10.) Banish bad breath by drinking a mix of vanillaessence and milk, or eat sugar-free plain yogurt with liveactive cultures — it reduces hydrogen sulphide, thecompound that contributes to smelly breath.

Audi is set to place its shiny new Q2badge on a radically styled SUV in timefor March’s Geneva Motor Show. As thesmallest SUV in the brand’s line-up, thenewcomer – revealed in our exclusiveimages – will be aimed at a youngeraudience than Audi has ever previouslyconsidered.

The Q2 is based on the MQB platformthat underpins the A3. Entry-level modelswill get front-wheel drive as standard, with top-spec cars using quattro all-wheel drive. It’ll be available only as afive-door, and will be significantly shorterthan the Q3. A three-door Q2 wasconsidered, but sources suggest it’s sincebeen dropped.

Due on sale in the summer, the car willbe the first product from Audi designboss Marc Lichte, who came from VW inlate 2013 to replace Wolfgang Egger.Lichte announced his arrival with thestunning prologue concept in 2014. He’s

been relishing the chance to deliver aradical production car after criticism ofthe conservative Q7 and A4.

The Q2’s youth orientation hasallowed the stylists to wriggle free of thebrand’s usual constraints. The model’smost distinctive feature will be a hugechamfered cutout along its waistline onboth doors, a forward-stretching cabinand large rear shoulders.

Audi’s also taken lessons from its MINI-rivalling A1 in allowing everything frominterior to roof colour to be personalised– and even aluminium or carbon fibre forthe C-pillars.

Original design prototypes carried anegg-crate pattern inside the single-framegrille, rather than Audi’s traditionalhorizontal bars. But sources suggestconservatism may have crept back in andseen its face revert to type.

Inside, the Q2 will use splashes ofcolour unseen in recent mainstream

Audis, and will delivereclectic trims andmaterials. A senior sourcetold us: “We tried tocharacterise the Q2 as anurban street feature, notjust a car. The customercan build the character oftheir own cars.”

There’ll be more hardsurfacing than is usual forAudi, but only becauseresearch suggests buyersin this new sector will beless considerate about how they use theircars. A source said: “We want to capture aparticularly young clientele. The Q2 isvery different from SUVs such as the Q7.It’s a bolder design, and everything’saccentuated more than you’d normallyexpect from us.”

The Q2 won’t necessarily become atechnical leader for the brand, as it’ll carryover a lot of existing mechanical andtechnical components. It will take a stepforward in connectivity, though.

While there are no plans for SQ2 or RS

Q2 variants yet, standard models will usefour-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. That would give Audi the choice todeliver the 1.0, 1.4 and 2.0-litre petrolturbos, as well as a range of 1.6 and 2.0TDI diesels. There’s no talk of a hybrid yet, although that seems inevitable at a laterdate.

The Q2 will sit above upcoming smallSUVs from inside the VW Group, such asthe VW Cross up! and uniquely bodied,Polo-based T-Cross, which will also debutin Geneva.

The DeLorean sports car famed for itsstarring role in the Back to the Futuremovies is set to go back into production,33 years after the last example was built.

The rights to the DeLorean MotorCompany name are now owned by aTexas-based company that has beenselling refurbished examples of thestainless steel-bodied two-seater since1995. However, thanks to a change in USlaws which means cars no longer have tosatisfy modern safety regulations, aslong as fewer than 325 are made eachyear, it will now be able to build newDeLoreans as well.

Stephen Wynne, CEO of the firm, toldAmerican radio station KPRC: "It’s agame-changer for us. It means we'reback as a car company again."

"There's no reason to change theappearance of the car," he continued. "Aswe go into the program, we'll decidewhat areas do need to be freshened up.”

Around 2,800 parts make up aDeLorean, and the new DeLorean MotorCompany owns more than 99 per cent ofthe remaining stock that came out of theoriginal factory, along with the originaltechnical drawings.

It hopes to have the first newDeLorean ready by 2017, and is aimingfor a price of less than $100,000.

Today a classic DeLorean usually costsbetween £25,000 and £35,000,depending on condition, although right-hand-drive examples are rare and can gofor more.

The original DeLorean MotorCompany was founded by John ZDeLorean, a former engineer andexecutive at the giant US car makerGeneral Motors. However, productionproblems and delays meant the cararrived to market with an underpoweredengine and almost a decade later thanoriginally planned.

Then in 1982, DeLorean was chargedwith drugs trafficking, and while he waseventually acquitted on the grounds ofentrapment, both he and his car werefinished as credible forces in theindustry.

Far from the planned 30,000DeLoreans per year rolling out of thepurpose-built factory in Dunmurry,Northern Ireland – which was paid for bythe British tax payer – just 9,200 weremade in total, between 1981 and 1983.

Lotus stands for light, clever, affordable sports cars, right? Well, it alsostands for the new 3-Eleven – which isdefinitely light and clever, but onlyaffordable if you’ve got £82,500 burninga hole in your pocket.

What you get for your money is thefastest Lotus ever. Which is fast.

Porsche 918, McLaren P1 andLaFerrari fast, actually. Which casts theword ‘affordable’ in a whole new light, asthere’s metal there costing more than1000% more than the 3-Eleven.

Is it really that fast? Well, it’s availablein Road and Race spec. The latter bumpsthe ticket to £116,500, admittedly – butthat’s still peanuts compared to the 918et al. And thus armed, you can rocketfrom 0-60 in 2.9 seconds.

Given an uninterrupted run at theNürburgring, Lotus says you’d be out andback in less than seven minutes, too.

Credit for this goes to a mid-mounted3.5-litre V6, built by Toyota andextensively worked up by Lotus to snortout 404bhp (Road) and 453bhp (Race).

The former is put down through a six-speed manual box, while the latter goesthrough a sequential unit. Not

surprisingly, a limited-slip rear diff isstandard across the range.

Gearing differences between the twoboxes mean that despite having lesspower, the Road model has a higher topspeed of 180mph. At 174, though, theRace version is unlikely to put you tosleep.

Road and Race versions alike arebased on a spaceframe body with analuminium structure and ultra-lightweight composite panels. Hung onthis are independent double wishbonescontrolled by Ohlins shocks and anti-rollbars which are adjustable at the front.

The cabin is predictably focused, withthings like a passenger’s seat appearingon the options list. Only on the Roadmodel, though – in Race trim, you’re onyour own.

In the words of Lotus boss Jean-MarcGales, the 3-Eleven is ‘anuncompromised manifestation of theLotus idiom.’

To everyone else, a plannedproduction run of 311 vehicles is likely toappear just a touch contrived. On thisparticular car, however, that’s probablyquite easy to forgive.

Remember the days when BMW’s Z1roadster looked amazingly space-age?Well, here’s the i Vision Future Interaction.

Admittedly, about the only thingthey’ve got in common is the no-doorslook from sideways on. But whereas theZ1’s disappeared down into itsbodywork, this new concept simplydoesn’t have any.

That’s probably just to give you abetter view of all the cool stuff inside.

The latest in a line of i8-basedconcepts, the i Vision Future Interactionshowcases BMW’s latest advances onvarious fronts.

These include autonomous driving, supported by a next-gen head-up displayand 3D digital dash delivering instantinformation about the car’s surroundings– including nearby and oncomingvehicles. This gives the driver more time

to react when situations develop whichmay require an intervention, or indeedwhen the car’s being driven rather thanpiloting itself.

On that subject, while it’s normal nowto see cars with selectable drive modesyou won’t have come across a selectorquite like this concept’s. The availablemodes are Pure, for maximumenjoyment; Assist, for the quickestjourney time; and Auto – in which modethe car takes over and drives itself.

While it’s doing so, you can enjoy therest of its tech features – which includevideo calling, gesture control and wi-fiaccess via BMW’s Open Mobility Cloud, akind of virtual butler that aims to makesense of your entire life on one singlepanoramic dashboard. Think of it as aFilofax (or ’smartphone’, as they’re callednow) on four wheels.

BMW i Vision Future Interactionconcept loses its doors

By David HudsonThe clip clop of horses hoofs with the jingle of the

bells from the harness signalled the arrival of a horse andcarriage in our lane in Desamparados. Sitting in the lightweight modern carriage was the Grandfather, Fatherand two grandchildren who said buenos as we waved tothem. It got me thinking that in this day of a throw awaysociality people still want to save some historicmemories and I bet that those children will alwaysremember these days and talk about it to their children.

This is a time of the year that you look back as well asforward on what is happening! So it got me thinkinghow far the Spanish Classic scene has changed in such ashort time and about the battle that I was involved in tosave the Spanish Classics or as the Spanish say popularhistoric vehicles and to get the popular classics beingaccepted. My little SEAT 600 is 45 years old and has doneover 110,000 kms on the original engine which I havedriven over 80,000 kms in Spain and Portugal. Before1995 historic vehicles were over 30 years old, based onthe German status and was for the elite and rich. Thebattle to begin to save the classics was when on 14thJuly the King signed the parliament bill that protectedhistoric vehicles of 25 years and older, a compromisedbetween the German and English law. This salvo was togive status to the large number of common vehicles thatcompletes the history of the time.

When I brought the sad little 600 from Fausto in 1990it was to serve me well as a form of transport in andaround Torrevieja in our holidays. During the 90s Angieand I tried to form a 600 club in Torrevieja by putting

printed cards under thewindscreens of a largenumber of 600s was stillbeing driven aroundTorrevieja in those days butto no avail. Then the secondsalvo of the battle was firedwhen Volkswagen broughtthe SEAT Company. The firsttime I knew about it waswhen I called into the SEATdealer for a part only to betold that the GermanCompany wanted nothing todo with the Spanish side ofSEAT and could not supplyany parts. So it was trawlingthe scrap yards for carsbecause even though I toldthem that it would be moreprofitable to break down intoparts I still had to climbaround the yards. Only a

handful of parts shops were around Spain in those daysand sometimes it meant ordering from Santander. Nowthe final salvo was fired when a group of aficionadosbrought up the stock of available parts from SEAT andthe battle began with 600 clubs beingformed starting with Barcelona, Madridand Elche.

My involvement began in December2002 when I came out of the Orihuelatax office and met Manolo and after hefound out that I had a 600 he invited meto a meeting on the 9th January 2003where I joined 13 Spaniards to form aclassic club one of only 18 in Spain. Now there are over 100 clubs and in thisarea from the Orihuela Club there isnearly 20 Spanish speaking Clubs, 10English speaking Clubs from micro carsto specialised model clubs and 8motorcycle clubs. We decided toinclude all classic vehicles of two andfour wheels because it was obvious thata base was needed to encourage andhelp all classics to stay on the road.

The problems in those early days wasbecause of the elitist reputation we hadproblems getting the media and publicinterested. The President Venancio andmyself as VP worked hard to get publicity Venanciodealing with the Spanish media and I concentrated onthe Scandinavian, German and English papers, TV and

Radio. The 600s was to bringin young couples andfamilies which helped tobreak the elite reputation. The SEAT 600 was more thanan icon, in the 1970s thenewspaper “El Pais” wrotethat the 600 broughtdemocracy to Spain notPresident Suerez. This wasbecause in the 50s and 60sthe ordinary people was ableto freely explore Spain for thefirst time and exchange ideasthat formed the bases ofdemocracy. What carcompany had to close theorder books two years afterits launch of a model to copewith producing the 600?

In those early days therewere very little organised

classic events. I remember that we made an agreementwith Elche, Murcia and Denia that we would help andsupport each other’s event. The big problem in thosedays was information because web sites and emailswere not used, the Spanish preferred telephone or post.Members from clubs as far as Valladolid, Burgos, Madrid,Seville and Barcelona used to travel to this areasometimes leaving at 4.00am which showed thecommitment in those early days. I would travel up to600 kms on a Sunday. Those days there were twoorganised events that included an Exhibition of classicvehicles, a fun event, a parade of vehicles around thelocal area and a meal.

The Encuentro was opened to invited clubs and theConcentration which is open to all classic vehicles. Bothcould be regional or national. These could cost from1000€ to 12,000€ to put on. I have been involved intwelve Encuentros one which resulted in my forming thefirst English speaking Classic Club. I was also involved inorganising the first National Concentration in Orihuelaso I have first-hand experience of the hard work involvedin organisation and getting sponsorship and publicity.

The Spanish gave me the sense of adventure and thatthere is nowhere that it cannot go. To celebrate the 50thAnniversary of the SEAT 600 Angie and I took a letter anda large present from the Mayor of Torrevieja to the Mayorof Madrid to mark the commitment of the magdalenas

to holiday in Torrevieja. Local people in Madrid told methat they would not drive a 600 in the Madrid trafficwithout being in a convey and with a police escort.

The battle has not finished because of the uncertainpolitical future of Spain with inexperienced new partiesin control we have seen what may happen. Already citycentres has been closed to traffic, some areas haveproposed a supplement tax of 85€ on vehicles over 20years or have banned classic vehicles. All this in theargument that it will reduce contamination but yearsago in Oxford the same socialist type of party did this byonly allowing buses to drive in the city centre. Withinfive years Oxford was the most contaminated city inEurope due to the diesel particles sitting about twostories high and at Carfax you could climb three storiesand see the effect for yourself. By the time this isunderstood the classic scene may be badly effected andthe unique freedom that the Spanish now enjoy may belost. Unlike in England which follows the feudal systemwhere all land is private unless it is designated publicwhereas in Spain under the Neapolitan system all land ispublic unless marked private giving total freedom toexplore. Ahead of the game Montesinos were hit with thenews that key players Galindo and Carlos have beenside-lined through injury. Galindo, who suffered a

We will have to see ifCarlos is out for the rest ofthe season, which is a blow,”

rued Roberto. “We only have 17 players in the Squad – ofwhich was underlined with youth player Josema beingamong the substitutes against SS Fulgencio,” saidRoberto.

Montesinos pressed from the outset, with forwardMacan fouled on two minutes that lead to a booking.Macan, a threat throughout, was brought down on 36minutes that lead to the Fulgencio defender receiving ayellow. Three new signings and another point in the bagconcluded an enterprising week for the Blues andWhites this week. With 20 points from 24, the team havegone from the brink of the relegation zone to possiblePlay Off contenders, as both their form and the strengthof the squad continues to improve. Sunday's morningkick off ended UD Alzira 1:1 CD Torrevieja. It was anotherof those games of two very different halves, in that in thefirst period Torre were not at all comfortable. Too manychoices will be given to Alzira that, except in rare andisolated phases, dominated largely the midfield. However a lack of concentration from a corner gave thehosts a goal, breaking an unbeaten 534 minutes withoutconceding.

The second half saw a remarkable improvement ofTorrevieja with the defence holding strong and afterscoring an early equaliser through Higon in the 49thminute, they continued to dominate but could not findthe net a second time and thus had to settle for a point.Torre are now eight games without a loss and go intonext Sunday's February 7th game against Villarreal C, full

of confidence. Kick off next Sunday is at noon, due toCarnival being the same day, at the Vicente GarciaStadium.

With the second half of the season now underway, fora complete change, instead of losing quality playersafter the Christmas break, the team have picked up threeof quality. Midfielder Pablo Redondo Martinez "PabloRedondo" is a player who has been working out for acouple of weeks with the team to recover from an injurythat had kept him away from the game for severalmonths.

Pablo Redondo is a versatile player and can play oneither flank, as a midfielder and even pivot player whohas great quality and ball control, along with a long andextensive experience in professional football. Hisprofessional career began in the Mestalla followed byspells in the first Division at Albacete and Getafe CF andalso serving with Gimnastic, Tarragona, Xerez CD,Hercules CF. His last club was Eldense CD where heplayed in 2nd Division B last season 2014-2015.

Another new signing last week was Chuoe whoprovides the team with more quality in attack.

Chuoe is a versatile player who can play on bothwings and even as a front man as he did with his last clubNovelda CF, where he has been playing in group VI of the3rd Division and has been a key player until thenoveldense club decided to dispense with his services. In Novelda CF he started all 11 games and assisted on 2goals, one of them against Torrevieja in La Magdalena.

Chuoe's career has mainly been spent in the 2nd

Division B, where he has played continuously since the2003-2011 season for teams like Valencia B, LaVillajoyosa and Benidorm, later signing for La Nucia in3rd Division in the season 2011- 2012 moving to CDEldense where in the 2013-2014 season he helped themrise to 2nd B Division by contributing 11 goals in the2014-2015.

Another striker has joined the club in the shape ofJose Antonio Prieto Hernández "Prieto" from the ADCeuta X Andaluz Group 3rd Division. Prieto is anestablished centre forward with great technical quality. He was the top scorer of his team with 12 goals in 24matches, with 21 of them as a starter. His statistics speakfor themselves as he’s been top scorer twice in hisdivision, the first one with Almeria B scoring 27 goalsand the second with the Nijar region where he scored 23goals, also noting that he had experience in 2nd DivisionB teams like CP Ejido, San Roque de Lepe, AD Almería Band Ceuta. With most of the teams has played for he hasaveraged more than 15 goals a season.

Terry has left the door openfor the Blues to change their mind and offer him a new deal. The Mail say letting Terry leave Stamford Bridge is a "bigmistake", according to former England midfielder JamieRedknapp. Ex-Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino believes thedecision is "madness".

In the Championship, promotion hopefulsMiddlesbrough could return with an offer for Fulhamforward Ross McCormack, 29, after their move for 25-year-old Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes collapsed. FormerMillwall and Leicester striker Steve Claridge believesMiddlesbrough's move for Rhodes will go through, despiteit faltering when personal terms could not be agreed.Sheffield Wednesday are hopeful of completing the loan
