¡ HOW tO Care FOr a gLass COFFee tabLeGlass table tops are a nice touch to any room, but there are a few ways to keep your glass looking its best and lasting the longest.

1. Avoid piling heavy items on your glass table top, which may cause the top to crack or even break.

2. Be gentle to the glass. Gently and carefully place objects down on the table top. Also use coasters to avoid heat and water rings.

3. Keep it clean. Use window cleaner (or a mixture of water and vin-egar) to remove dust, fingerprints and streaks.

4. Keep it scratch-free. Avoid displaying items that could damage the glass, such as objects with sharp edges or rough bases. rings and other jewelry can also scratch the glass surface while you’re cleaning.

5. Avoid high-traffic areas. If possible, keep your glass table away from high-traffic areas for safety reasons.

¡ 2011 FaLL HIgH POINt: treND rePOrt

This fall’s high Point Market was a huge success. According to Apart-ment Therapy, there were five noticeable trends this season. They kept a keen eye out for color, texture, finish and sizing trends in the furniture world.

trend #1: blues, emeralds and greys Whether these colors were used in a floor rug, or in the upholstery of an accent chair. These three colors made a big impact throughout the entire market. Our blue office chair (pictured to the left) definitely followed suit.

Trend #2: Rustic and Industrial Decor An antique look was demon-strated at fall market through furniture made with iron bases, gal-vantized steel, and rustic finishes; such as the wall mirror shown to the left. Colors and textures helped a lot to create this rustic feel.

Trend #3: Stackable Shelving and Storage A great way to maximize the space in your room is with stackable storage, such as bookcases and cabinet hutches. This practical and efficient trend made its way into october’s high Point.

Trend #4: Painted Finished Apartment Therapy noted that “across the board, many designers are finding ways to modernize traditional furniture.” One way of doing so, is with painted finishes. Take a look at our accent cabinet with hand-painted floral embellishments.

Trend #5: Scaling Down Furniture designers are truly meeting the needs of today’s consumer. This fall, some furniture followed the scaled-down trend, making pieces more livable and convenient; such as this small entry table pictured to the left.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the next upcoming high Point Market on April 21-26, 2012. see you there!

Twice a year, the furniture industry descends on high Point, North Carolina to debut their collections, meet the press...and party their pants off. This year we received an in-depth peek of furniture brands across a wide spectrum of tastes and styles that have always interested us.

¡ WINter bLUeswinter has arrived. with the changing season and weather, the decor in your house may change too. Blue accent pieces can be a great way to add touch of this cool and serene sea-son to your room. There are so many shades of blue that work well around the house. From a pure sky blue, to muted grey blues, pick a blue that matches your style and theme.

Shades of blue can be added to any room via an accent chair, such as this beautifully carved chair shown above. Another easy way to add some wintery blues is with wall art. This “Black and White Duo” oil painting would work well. Blue can also be found in accent cabinets, chaises and ottomans.

¡ Merry MaNteLsTis the season for holiday decorations around the home. In some homes, decor centers around the fireplace and mantel. Bring some merriment to your fireplace area with a few of these items:

Classic Red & Green: These colors are sure to make your mantel pop and look very fes-tive. Red and green garlands are a popular choice. Add colorful ornaments, candy canes, stars and other accessories to com-pliment your arrangement.

Christmas Garden: If your mantel is large enough use holiday flowers and sprigs to decorate and add a fresh scent.

Wreath Centerpiece: Hang a festive wreath in the center above your fireplace to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Wintery Whites: The holidays don’t have to be just reds and greens. You can also choose a classic snowy theme using white decor and snow-like fluff on your mantel.

Playful Figurines: Display your favorite holi-day knick-knacks such as nutcrackers and santas on your mantel for a whimsical look.

Light it Up: Create an arrangement of candles in a variety of shapes and sizes. This can add warmth to the room.

Don’t forget to add a little decor and color to the fireplace’s surrounding room. Try adding a red accent chair, or using a festive table runner on your coffee table.
