Hard Coal – key remarks
Available hard coal resources are limited. Current mineable coal reserves are estimated to last (according to the level of production) to cca 2040.The ratio coking coal : steam coal is currently about 50:50.
While the steam coal fluctuates around 6 mt/y, coking coal dropped from 14 to 5 mt. In the future, coking coal could prevail again.
Paskov Mine (extraction of cca 1 mt/y) has currently economic problems. Priority is maximal prolongation of lifespan of current mining localities rather than opening of new mines.
