!!THE!PROGRAM!–!COACHING!BOYS!INTO!MEN!! b!!!

Athletic!coaches!play!an!extremely!influential!and!unique!role!in!the!lives!of!young!men.!Zack!Neeley!described!how!because!of!these!relationships!coaches!are!poised!to!positively!influence!how!young!men!think!and!behave,!both!on!and!off!the!field.!Coaching!Boys!into!Men!(CBIM)!is!the!only!evidence!based!prevention!program!that!trains!and!motivates!high!school!coaches!to!teach!their!young!male!athletes!healthy!relationship!skills!and!that!violence!never!equals!strength.!!!!!The!program!is!offered!by!two!organizations,!the!YWCA!and!Verity,!both!resources!for!victims!of!domestic!violence!and!sexual!assault!in!Sonoma!County.!!!Question)7))What)was)the)coBpresenters)name?!!!!

!The!Rotary!Golf!Tournament!was!held!on!April!28!at!Northwood!Golf!Course.!Over!40!golfers!hacked!and!hit!and!had!a!terrific!time.!The!weather!was!beautiful!even!if!the!golf!was!not.!The!match!was!followed!by!dinner!and!a!raffle.!The!entire!event!was!overseen!by!Committee!Chair!Tim$Moore!with!able!assistance!by!Meredith$Bertacco,!Aldean$Nothig$and$Pat!Dilley.!!!

Winners!included!!First!Place!Team!led!by!Gary!Taylor!!Closest!to!the!Pin!!!Michael!Williams!!Longest!Drive!Women!!!Mary!Ann!Moore!!Longest!Drive!Men!!Brian$($are$you$kidding$me?$)$Langerman$$!

!Hal$Kwalwasser!hosted!Frank$and$Kathie$Mayhew!and!guests!at!an!auction!item!dinner!he!donated!for!last!years’!fund!raiser.!The!dinner!GAll!ScottishG!included!Haggis,!Lamb!and!Trifle.!It!also!included!a!deep!dive!into!Scotch!whisky(not!literally.)!A!grand!time!was!had!by!all!

!Walt!Hays!started!teaching!Math!at!Analy!High!in!2004!and!currently!teaches!Computer!Science!and!Project!Make.!!He!has!taught!Algebra!1,!Geometry,!Algebra!2,!Trigonometry/PreGCalculus,!Computer!Programming,!Advanced!Placement!Computer!Science,!and!Project!Make.!!!Walt!received!his!teaching!credential!from!Sonoma!State,!and!a!BA!from!UC!Davis!in!International!Relations!with!a!minor!in!Russian.!!Before!becoming!a!teacher!he!spent!14!years!at!a!Bay!Area!software!company,!finishing!up!as!engineering!manager.!!He!loves!long!distance!cycling,!plays!guitar,!and!raises!chickens!(see!his!web!site,!www.dogatemyhomework.com,!for!a!link!to!his!automatic!chicken!door,!version!3.0.).!!Walt!was!honored!as!a!West!County!Teacher!of!the!Year!in!2016,!and!was!selected!by!a!recent!Analy!graduating!class!to!the!faculty!speaker,!where!he!performed!an!original!song!about!the!joys!of!teaching!and!learning!at!Analy!High!to!a!graduation!audience!of!2,000!people.!
