‘Coach Bowls’ has developed a number of modules and qualifications on behalf of Bowls England (BE), English Indoor Bowling Association Ltd (EIBA),English Short Mat Bowling Association (ESMBA) and British Crown Green Bowling Association (BCGBA). The courses available are the only ones recommended to club coaches by BE, EIBA, ESMBA and BCGBA and are the only bowls courses and qualifications recognised by Sport England. Bursaries to assist coaches to cover part of the cost of these courses are available to apply for (BE & EIBA) or local County Sport Partnership. Qualifications Coach Bowls Level 1 Award in Coaching Bowls (£130) The 1st4Sport Level 1 Award in Coaching Bowls (QCF) is a vocationally related qualification that provides learners with an opportunity to study and be assessed on both the practical and theoretical aspects of coaching bowls to groups of beginner adults and children in an appropriate environment. The knowledge gained from this award will enable learners to develop an understanding of safe, ethical and effective bowls coaching. It will also allow Level 1 Bowls coaches who are aged 18+ to independently deliver pre planned taster sessions to beginners as part of the Play Bowls 4 Fun programme. Coach Bowls

Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Bowls (£220)This qualification is delivered in partnership with 1st4SportQualifications (Awarding Body) and gives an externally accreditednationally recognised qualification (regulated by Ofqual). It is alsothe only Nationally Recognised Qualification for the sport of bowlsin England and is wholly supported by Bowls England, EIBA,ESMBA and BCGBA.

The qualification will support coaches to effectively plan and delivera series of structured sessions to bowlers, from beginner stagesthrough to competitive club players. It puts the bowler at the centreof all developments and concentrates not just on what to coach buton how to get the best from the people you are working with.

Coach Educator (Tutor/Assessor)

For those coaches who have completed their Level TwoCertificate in Coaching Bowls, there is the option to completea qualification in delivering learning / education.

Potential Tutors and Assessors would then be supported toshadow / co-tutor or assess and eventually independentlylead on Coach Bowls Qualifications and modules.
