Uxbridge Council on Aging Newsletter
Please call the Senior Center at 508-278-8622 to reserve your meal and also to arrange for transportation tolunch and for medical appointments.Van transportation begins at 10:30 am each day. Please check with the Senior Center, Uxbridge Cable Sta-tion or the Council on Aging website for the Lunch Menu.The Senior Center is a drop off site for the People First Food Pantry. Donations are accepted Mondaythrough Friday from 9am-4pm.
Our wish list: The Senior Center would greatly appreciate any donations ofall purpose spray cleaner for the tables, sugar and Splenda packets, foamcups, stirrers, cascade for the dishwasher, dish detergent, sponges, napkins,paper towels and decaf and regular coffee. These things are not covered inthe budget. We thank you very much for your help.If you would like to donate a $5 (or more) gift card for our Baggy Tuesdaygame it would be greatly appreciated. Seniors can use gift cards from Han-naford’s, CVS, Walmart or Dunkin Donuts for food and medications.
DID YOU KNOW THAT WE TAKE SENIORS SHOPPING at HANNAFORD'S AND WALMART?
Every Tuesday morning starting at 8:30 AM pick-up begins for the weekly trip toHannaford’s. You can go to Walmart on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month.
Pick-up for Walmart begins at 12:30 PM.

MOBILE OPTICAL SHOP COMING TO UXBRIDGELisa Trainor, the optician from Anywhere Opticalwill be at the Uxbridge Senior Center on the firstWednesday of each month starting on November6, 2013 from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm discuss theservices they provide.
COMPUTER CLASSESFree classes on computers, I phones, I pads,tablets, etc are meeting every Thursday from3:00 to 4:00pm. They are taught by studentsfrom Nipmuc High School. Please call the Se-nior center at 508-278-8622 to register.

Jennifer Cournoyer from Page Chiro-practic Health Center will be with us on Friday,December 6, from 11:30am to 12:30pm.She will talk about Spinal Disorders, solutions tocommon health problems and how to take re-sponsibility for your own health. We want tokeep you moving!
F I R S T N I G H TUXBRIDGE HOLIDAY FIRST NIGHT CELEBRATION! On Saturday, December 7th, Uxbridgewill celebrate First Night. The Senior Center will be open with coffee and cookies. We would like tothank the Elderly Connection for sponsoring the Honky Tonk Piano Man again this year. We wantto thank Mrs. Plasse and her class for baking cookies for this celebration.
SENIOR CENTER CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONThe Uxbridge Elderly connection will sponsor our annual Christmas Luncheon and Party onWednesday, December 18 from 11:30am to 12:30pm.Santa Claus will be here to help us celebrate.This year the Elderly connection is sponsoring a drawing to help pay for our new Medical Car. 1st
prize is 200 gallons of heating oil, 2nd prize is a 40” flat screen TV, and 3rd, 4th and 5th prizes are$100 worth of lottery tickets. Tickets are available from Elderly Connection members. The drawingwill take place at the Christmas Luncheon on Dec. 18.

THANK YOU TO ALL OUR FRIENDS WHO HAVE HELPED TO MAKE OUR SENIOR CENTER A GEM IN THE BLACKSTONE VALLEY!
During this time of year when we are giving thanks for all our blessings, we would like to say a BIGTHANK YOU to some of the wonderful people who have given us their time and support.
♥ Thank you Edwina Porter for all her work in our garden at the community Gardens. Thefresh vegetables were used for our food program.
♥ Thank you Josiah Morrisette for rototilling our garden.
♥ Thank you to the DPW department for fixing our walkway and for loaning us their car whilewe were switching to a new Medical car.
♥ Thank you to Town Manager Sean Hendricks for helping us get a great new car to use formedical appointments.
♥ Thank you to The Uxbridge Elderly Connection for helping to pay for the medical car.
♥ Thank you to the Seniors who donate to our Donations Fund, some of that money went to-ward our new car.
♥ Thank you to Sheriff Evangelidis for his Senior Safety Programs and for putting us on the listto have our building painted in the spring.
♥ Thank you for Representative Kevin Kuros for bringing apple pies and ice cream for the se-niors lunch.
♥ Thank you to the Grange in Uxbridge for donation gift cards for our seniors.

If you need transportation to the meal program pleaselet us know.A suggested voluntary donation of $3 -$5 per meal. Our program is open to all ages and geared towards the nutritional needs of senior citizensages 55+. Our meals are heart healthy with reduced sodium.
