The Performance of Carbon Dioxide Adsorption towards Peanut shell OBJECTIVE a) To produce char peanut shell at furnace temperatures 300 o C and 400 o C. b) To characterize the peanut char in terms of carbon content using Elemental Analyzer. c) To study the capability of CO 2 adsorption at weight 10g, 15g and 20g and size of adsorbent at 106μm, 250μm and 500μm. d) To investigate the adsorption performance based on Langmuir isotherm, Pseudo First Order kinetic and Pseudo Second Order kinetic INTRODUCTION Adsorption is a process to remove gas or liquid or solid and adsorb on the surface of the solid. It can be used in many fields such as environmental, biological and chemical processes. The adsorption process has been widely used to purify gasses in air pollution control and remove dissolved impurities in water treatment. The advantages of this separation method are the operation of the process is simple and simultaneous dehydration of the gas and acid removal is possible. There are many type of waste that can become the adsorbent such agricultural waste. In this study, peanut shell had been chosen as the adsorbent to study its capability for CO 2 adsorption. PROBLEM STATEMENT Nowadays, the increasing concentrations of the CO2 in the natural gas plant have caused problems to the plant. The CO 2 needs to be removed from natural gas plant because CO 2 is an acid gas. CO 2 can be corrosive to the pipeline. Therefore, to remove the exceed concentration of the CO 2 , the adsorption process is done. In addition, the adsorbent produced is peanut shell char adsorbent because it is carbonaceous, fibrous and low in density.
