CASE STUDY NO.5

Adarsh Co-operative Housing Society is located at Irani Road, Dahanu and companies of 54 flats. It is a registered co-operative housing society. There are many irregularities in the society which often goes unnoticed. Some honest and conscious members have asked for a emergency general meeting of the society to discuss the following matter.

Mr. Sunil Paranjape, a member of a society who has allotted a flat on the ground floor has dug a basement under his flat without seeking permission either from the society or the corporation. His contention is that he is not using any extra floor space index and therefore does not have to seek permission.

The secretary of the society has defaulted on paying Rs.20,000/- however, since he is an officer bearer, no notice has been served.
