This project consists of the design, financing, construction, state of art rolling stock provision, operation and maintenance of a passenger and cargo railway of 323Km, with intermediate stations located between the cities of Lima and Ica, at a maximum speed of 200 km/h. This railway will be integrated to the Lima Metro System.

By means of Supreme Decree No.021-2018-MTC, the deadlines for the submission ofCo-Financed Private Initiatives are established.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications, by means ofSupreme Decree No. 021-2018-MTC, established the deadlinefor the submission of Co-Financed Private Initiatives regardingTransport Infrastructure projects, enabling the private sector-interested in these new investment opportunities- to submit

their proposals for the execution of the following projects:

In its route it shall be interconnected with the following infrastructures:

• Basic network of the Lima and Callao Metro line.• Logistic platforms• Port terminals of El Callao• General San Martín – Pisco Port Terminal

Approximately 323.70 km, through which approximately 44 km of tunnels, 50 km ofbridges and elevated viaducts and 229.70 km of surface structure will be carried out.This will be defined in the pre-investment study.

Address the demand for public transportation in an orderly, accessible, safe and comfortablemanner by means of an integrated transportation system; thus contributing to the economicinvestment policy of the Peruvian government and the strategic railway lines of the MTC(Ministry of Transport and Communications).

The size of the project shall be established in acordance with the market study. Therailway shall reach a maximum speed of 200 km/h with an estimated travel timebetween Lima and Ica of 3 hours.

It will improve the life quality of the users in the cities of Lima, Cañete, Chincha, Piscoand Ica. The number of direct beneficiaries is estimated in about 9.32 million inhabitantsof Lima Region and 850 thousand of Ica Region.

Project characteristics

Railway infrastructure and rolling stock (trains) maintenance activities shall be carried out.The Operation shall be carried out when the service to be provided by the RailwayTransportation starts.

The incomes shall be collected through the charging of tickets to the users. Rates areunder assessment.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has provided, by means of MemorandumNo.377-2018-MTC/02, the opening of a window for the Investment of Co-FinancedPrivate Initiatives for the development of this project.

The project is interconnected and supplemented by the Basic Network of the Lima Metroline, which is -in turn- interconnected with the BRT and Bus corridors of the IntegratedPublic Transportation System of Lima and Callao.

This project is part of the interurban projects prioritized in the National RailwayDevelopment Plan. In accordance with this, the MTC has provided the implementation ofthe Barranca - Lima – Ica Railway, which -in turn- would be a component of the futuremega project for the creation of the Coast Railway.
