Even though a new era in the history of Parkinson’s disease started with the discovery of the role of dopamine, the introduction of levodopa and an arsenal of dopamine-supporting drugs more than half a century ago, leading to a dramatic improvement in the patients’ quality of life and longevity, the situation for a Parkinson patient is still far from satisfactory, and the need for further research in this disorder is
urgent. Especially, after a varying number of years the presently available drugs start to loose much of their efficiency, with disturbing side effects more and more taking over the scene. I wish to welcome all researchers from the fields of basic neuroscience, neurology, and neurosurgery to contribute with your valuable expertise, and to stimulate interdisciplinary endeavour.

effects of neuro hormones on the brain shows the potential for great strides in this field. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of age-related dementia in the elderly, characterized by memory loss and cognitive decline. Alzheimer’s disease degrades the quality of life of patients, puts a major burden on the family and the caregivers, costs nations around the world billions of dollars annually and has a dismal outcome. Because the people are living longer the number of individuals afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease is
continuing to climb, creating a major global health problem. We must find new ways to treat this devastating disease.
Conferences like this one may help to speed up the development of effective therapies for neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease.

Central Nervous System DisordersCentral nervous system disorder is a broad category of conditions in which the brain does not properly function, limiting health and organs functionality. The CNS disorders conditions include the result of damage from brain cancer, degenerative condition, infection, stroke, or problems rose from neurological factors. Meningitis is the neuroinfection or inflammation of the meninges, surrounded by three-layered membranes of the brain, spinal cord and the fluid and immersed in is called as cerebrospinal fluid. Whereas, Encephalitis which is defined as inflammation of the layers of tissue or membranes covering the brain. While the complexity of the central nervous system presents unique challenges for developing novel therapies.
Cognitive NeuroscienceThe field of cognitive neuroscience concerns the scientific study of the neural mechanisms underlying cognition and is a branch of neuroscience. Cognitive neuroscience overlaps with cognitive psychology, and focuses on the neural substrates of mental processes and their behavioral manifestations. Methods employed in cognitive neuroscience include psychophysical experiments, functional neuroimaging, electrophysiological studies of neural systems and, increasingly, cognitive genomics and behavioral genetics. Clinical studies in psychopathology in patients with cognitive deficits constitute an important aspect of cognitive neuroscience.
NeurosurgeryNeurosurgery (or neurological surgery) is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system.
Cerebrovascular DisordersCerebrovascular disease is a severe, common and expensive disorder. It is third most frequent cause of death and leading cause of adult disability. Of the 750,000 people suffer stroke annually 170,000 will die due to stroke. The most common forms of cerebrovascular disease are cerebral thrombosis (40% of cases) and cerebral embolism (30%), followed by cerebral haemorrhage.
Brain tumour & ImagingA brain tumor or intracranial neoplasm occurs when abnormal cells form within the brain. There are two main types of tumors: malignant or cancerous tumors and benign tumors. Cancerous tumors can be divided into primary tumors that start within the brain, and secondary tumors that have spread from somewhere else, known as brain metastasis tumors.

Spinal DisordersSpinal disorder may be seen in individuals irrespective of their age -spina bifida in infants to spinal stenosis in the elderly. There are many types of spinal disorders. The increase in population with spinal disorders has met with a leap in the advancements in diagnostic techniques. X rays, MRI, CT, DEA are some of the commonly used tools in diagnosing spinal disorders.
Neurodegenerative DisordersNeurodegenerative disorder is an umbrella term for a range of conditions which primarily affect the neurons in the human brain. In some cases, the neurodegenerative diseases are incurable and debilitating conditions that result in progressive degeneration or death of nerve cells. These include Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other dementias, Parkinson’s disease (PD) and PD-related disorders, Prion disease, Motor neuron diseases (MND), Huntington’s disease (HD), Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA), Spinal muscular atrophy and others. Each neurodegenerative disease is characterized through its unique aggregated protein. ß-amyloid (Aß) represents as hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease, whereas α-synuclein is the key protein in Parkinson’s disease and Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB).
Child NeurologyPaediatric neurology evaluates children with disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems. A large proportion in US population suffers from autism, mental retardation, dyslexia, seizures and other developmental disabilities. Approximately 1,300 U.S children experience severe or fatal brain trauma from child abuse. Epilepsy is the fourth common neurological disorder in the US after migraine, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease. So there is a need to take into account, the following diseases to dissertate: congenital hydrocephalus, Autism, Neonatal encephalopathy, Paediatrics tumour, Neurodevelopment disorder, Epilepsy and Child psychological disorders.
NeuroimmunologyNeuroimmunology is a field of neuroscience, combining immune system and the nervous system. The immune system administer defence against these organisms, inefficiency of the same results in Infections. The condition is much worse in developing countries; it has been a significant health problem in Australia. Some 350,000 to 500,000 patients suffer from multiple sclerosis (MS) in the United States .The conference on CNS is a platform to put our heads together and thrash out the cause of Multiple sclerosis and auto immune neuropathies, Neuroimmunological infectious disease, Neuromicrobial disorders and Neurological Lyme diseases, Neuroinflamation, Neuroimmuno genetics.

Behavioral neuropharmacology focus on the study of drugs effect on human behavior (neuropsychopharmacology), including the study of drug dependence and addiction effect on the human brain. Molecular neuropharmacology is the study of neurons and their neurochemical interactions, with the objective of developing drugs that have beneficial effects on neurological function.
Neurochemical TransmissionNeurochemistry is the specific study of neurochemicals, including neurotransmitters and other molecules that include psychopharmaceuticals, neuropeptides, or gastrotransmitters that influence the function of neurons. It also deals how these neurochemicals influence the network of neural operation. The studies include micro-macro connection between the analysis of organic compounds active in the nervous system and neural processes such as cortical plasticity, neurogenesis and neural differentiation, synapses, autism and intellectual disability, interneuronal coordination, interaction of drugs and its effect on summation and cotransmission process and advances in astrocyte-neuron interactions in health.
Novel drug development & its effectsDrug development is the process of bringing a new pharmaceutical drug to the market once a lead compound has been identified through the process of drug discovery. It includes pre-clinical research on microorganisms and animals, clinical trials on humans, and may include the step of obtaining regulatory approval to market the drug.
Computational NeurosciencesComputational Neuroscience (CN) is strictly defined as the quantitative understanding of the function of the brain at the level of neuronal dynamics and neural networks. Natural outputs of CN studies are dynamic network models of brain regions or processes that, via computer simulation, provide a theoretical foundation and technology that enhances our understanding of their function.
Case Study on CNSNeurology is a special branch of medical Sciences that deals primarily with the disorders in the central nervous system. Neurophysiology is a union of both neurology and physiology and it studies the functioning of the nervous system.
Clinical Trials on CNSWith an ever increasing average life expectancy, neurodegenerative diseases are becoming more prevalent in society. The economic and social costs of neurodegenerative disorders to society are huge. CNS BiomarkersA biomarker can be defined as a biological variable that has a statistically significant relationship with parameters of disease states or the activity of a drug or drug candidate. Biomarkers are fast becoming an essential part of clinical development, largely because they: (i) offer the prospect of more homogenous patient populations in clinical trials through patient selection and stratification; (ii) permit assessment of target engagement; (iii) allow the consequences of target engagement to be measured; and (iv) provide markers of disease modification.
Neurological NursingNeurological Nursing is a very challenging nursing specialty dealing with assessment, nursing diagnosis, and management of many neurological disorders for which nurses provide patient care. Central Nervous System-2012 Report
The International Conference & Exhibition on Central Nervous System - Drug Effects & Novel Drug Development, hosted by the OMICS Group was held on September 05-07, 2012 at Double Tree by Hilton Philadelphia Center City, USA. • Central nervous system tumors are the most common cancers among children ages 0-19.
• The majority of primary tumors (34%) are located within the meninges, followed by those located within the frontal, temporal, parietal and occipital lobes of the brain (22%).
• In 2006-2010, the average annual age-adjusted incidence rate of all primary malignant brain and CNS tumors was 7.27 & the average annual age-adjusted incidence rate of non-malignant brain and CNS tumors was 13.77.
• Glioblastomas represent 17% of all primary brain tumors, and 54% of all gliomas.
• CNS and brain tumours were the ninth most common cancer in the UK (2012), accounting for 3% of all new cases. They are the 11th most common cancers in males (3% of the male total) and the eighth most common in females (3%).
• In 2012, 9,678 new brain, other CNS and intracranial tumour cases were registered in the UK 4,760 (49%) in men and 4,918 (51%) in women, giving a male:female ratio of around 10:10. The crude incidence rate shows that there are 15 new brain, other CNS and intracranial tumour cases for every 100,000 males in the UK and 15 for every 100,000 females.
• Advanced radiation therapy techniques that target tumor tissue more precisely and reduce radiation damage to surrounding normal tissue (such as 3-dimensional conformal therapy, stereotactic radiation therapy, and intensity-modulated radiation therapy) are being refined.
• A new scale developed by NIH, which is based on tumor size, tumor location, and a patient’s ability to perform everyday tasks, can help surgeons identify which patients with glioblastoma will benefit from additional surgery when their tumor recurs.
• In 2008, The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) project reported the first results of its large-scale, comprehensive study of gene changes in glioblastoma (a type of glioma). These results identified three previously unrecognized mutations that occur frequently in glioblastoma and three cell-signaling pathways that may help drive tumor growth. The results also shed new light on molecular mechanisms that may make tumors resistant to some chemotherapy drugs. In 2010, additional results from TCGA showed that glioblastoma comprises four different molecular subtypes that have different responses to chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
• Despite tremendous advances in our understanding of brain cancer biology, substantial progress in brain tumor diagnosis and treatment, and marked improvements in the quality of life of brain tumor patients, the mortality rate for brain and other CNS cancers has remained largely unchanged over the past 30 to 40 years.
