Anti-Japanese Society Holds Meeting at Clubrooms

Plans to oust Japanese families from various sections,

Hollywood, where they are alleged to have secured a foothold,

was being discussed today by members of Hollywood Protective

Association, following a meeting of that organization last night

at Hollywood American Legion clubrooms. Among the speakers who

addressed a large crowd of members and anti-Japanese workers last

night were Louis G. Guernsey, Herman W. Lichtenberga, George J.

Burns, former Massachusetts State Senator, Charles M. Easton and

Mrs. Helen Buchanan.

At the meeting last night it was alleged that the Japanese

have gained a foothold on Bronson, Lawarind, Gregory and other

streets in Hollywood. Particular attention is being paid by

members of Association to plans for forcing the removal of a

Japanese house on Lawarind Avenue.

Japanese Invasion is Feared in New District

Planning Colony near Le Conte School, says

Report. Old Building Bought.

This Condition Deplorable, Says Association Members.

That a wholesale invasion by Japanese of Le Conte Jr.

High School district is feared by residents of that neighborhood,

was a statement made to Hollywood News today by a member of

Hollywood Protective Association, an anti-Japanese organization

formed primarily for the purpose of forcing the removal of a

Japanese house from Lawarind Avenue, adjacent to a district

now said to be endangered.

Express Indignation

Indignation has been expressed by property owners along

Bronson Avenue over the plan of Japanese living almost directly

in front of high school to move a large two story structure on to

the property which is now occupied by almost g dozen small frame

buildings in which live many famiiies of Japanese.

Goes Before P. T. A.

The matter will be taken before the Parent-Teachers Association

at Le Conte immediately, according to the organizers of Protective

Association, and an effort made to force the Japanese to refrain

from colonizing in this particular district, where school children

come from all parts of the city. Conditions on the property owned

by the Japanese, it is alleged, are most deplorable, and with an

addition of old buildings now being moved on the site, formerly

No Section Immune

"No part of Hollywood seems to be immune despite the

anti-alien laws, declared a prominent member of Protective

Association to Hollywood News today. 'In all sections of

beautiful residential communities sites are being secured in one

way or another and'shacks' thrown upandold buildings moved on,

and family after family established. Soon instead of Hollywood

the Beautiful, it will be Hollywood the home of Japs.t"
