When I visited Newman on the Open Days it had a real feeling of community and all the teaching staff are so friendly and passionate about their subjects. Enjoy College as much as possible, get involved and don’t stress too much! I went to Berlin and

I went on the German Exchange, these trips were really valuable for my courses, as well as being loads of fun! I love languages and I have found that I have progressed really quickly. It is so rewarding to be able to utilise what I have learned and I am now able to continue my studies further at university.

I came to visit the College in Year 10 and I really enjoyed it, also my sister had been a student here previously so it was definitely the right choice for me. I have

had a great experience at Newman and been on lots of trips which has helped me toenjoy my subjects even more. I really enjoyed the content of the lessons because I foundit really interesting to learn about the subjects in depth. I would recommend Newman toothers as it is a great College that produces fantastic results each year, but you need to beprepared to work hard so you can go on to do whatever you like after College.

Newman is one of the best Colleges in the country, whilst also being very accessiblein the centre of Preston. Cardinal Newman has offered me extra support for my

subjects and the staff and students are always friendly. Newman offers a high standard ofteaching and fantastic facilities to encourage you to get involved with lots of their events.Make the most of your summer holiday and get a well-earned rest after your GCSEs, thenwhen you start in year 12 you will be motivated and you can hit the ground running.

I would recommend Newman to anyone. It is a friendly environment with fantastic facilities and

the lessons are always interactive - which I love! I choseto come here because I had the option to combine a BTECqualification with an A Level, which gave me more choiceand flexibility. I have made loads of new friends whilststudying here and I would advise students to choose subjects that they are really interested in, so they can meetlike-minded people. On finishing College, I am hoping to goto Manchester Metropolitan University to study MarketingManagement so I can pursue a career in Marketing andAdvertising.

Studying at Newman allowed me to experience high-quality education in the disciplines that interested

me most. Think carefully about the subjects you want to studyat College as these will influence your University decisions. I have met some fascinating people here at Newman andthere is a strong emphasis on independent thought and studywhich I really like. I would definitely recommend Newman asa ‘springboard’ to get you to where you want to go next.

When I came to the Open Evening, the atmosphere of the College and the friendliness of the teachers’ really made

me feel that I would be comfortable at Newman. I love comingout of each lesson with new knowledge that encourages me tothink and I can apply it to everyday life. I also use my free periods to catch up on homework and coursework so I can enjoymy time at home more. If you decide to go to College, make sure you start your revision early - you can never be too prepared.

I really liked Newman from the moment I started here. The teachers are engaging and really care about us as

individuals and they are more than willing to provide extra helpand pastoral support. I had the opportunity to visit Athenswhich enabled me to see remnants of Ancient Greek Civilisationfirst hand. Ensure that the subjects you pick are ones you enjoyso you find your time at College enjoyable.

Because the College was much smaller in size to other local Colleges, it really appealed to me as it felt much

more welcoming. The resources provided by the College forlessons and Higher Education have been excellent and the Careers team have been fantastic. Do not assume that yourability at GCSE determines your success within College courses, you get out what you put in, so always work hard to achieveyour potential.

In 2014 we were named as the only Cambridge University Hub for Lancashire, which has this year seen us welcome students from St Mary’s College, Blackburn, Carr Hill Sixth Form, Preston’s College,Blackburn College and Bolton Sixth Form, to take part in the scheme alongside Newman students. Designed to not only support you in your A Level studies, but also an excellent opportunity to developyour skills in order to help you stand out amongst the thousands of students who pursue an application, not only to Cambridge University, but any of the other Russell Group universities.

The programme has proved a huge success, as this year the number of students who have been offered places at Russell GroupUniversities has risen from 260 in 2013/14, to 324 in 2014/15. This means that more than 33% of all university places offered toNewman students were at one of the UK’s top 24 (Russell Group) Universities. We have also had an outstanding 12 studentsbeing offered places at either Oxford or Cambridge this year - our best year yet!

I feel like the last two years have already given me a taste of what to expect from University life, so I am now

prepared for my next step. There is such an excellent supportsystem in place at Newman, the tutors really want you to dowell and have inspired me to go into teaching after completingmy History degree at Cambridge.

Each individual student feels valued and respected here atNewman. I have had lots of opportunities to go on trips,

which are really useful to include in your Personal Statement. If you are making the move to College on your own, don’t worryabout studying somewhere new, the College makes the progression from high school feel very natural.

The teachers here are so friendly and helpful but be prepared to work hard. The lessons are great and feel

really personal and I love learning about topics I really careabout. What makes Newman so fantastic is the people - everyone is willing to help you if you are struggling with anything.

Newman has a good reputation and a welcoming atmosphere. The lessons are high quality and the

principles taught extend through all the subjects I study. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Newman to any Year 11 student and I would encourage them to follow their dreams inwhatever they want to do.

I chose to come to Newman as my sister came here, so I already knew it was a great College. Plus,

Newman is rated in the top 2% of Colleges nationally - so[I knew it would be the best choice for my education. I’mpart of the Basketball Academy where I have had the opportunity to practice almost every day and play onematch per week. This has really enhanced my basketballskills, the coaching is excellent and so are the facilities. I am now off to the University of Birmingham to studySports Science.

The thing I have enjoyed most about studying at College is that the subjects I am studying often link to current events and real-life issues. For example, Economics helps me to better understand the economy that we live in, so it directly affects

me, which makes it even more interesting. Newman has a great reputation, which really attracted me to study here. Once Icame to look around on the Open Day, I was convinced that Newman was the right place for me, as I had the chance to speakto students about their experiences. The teachers here have really helped me get to where I want to be, they are always willingto go out of their way to help. It’s important to keep your attendance as high as you can, because the more you are here, themore you will learn and always take any opportunities that you are offered, like trips or work experience too!

and have found the lessons interesting and engaging. The teachersare good and make the classes fun, as well as informative. It is so important to work hard in the first year, it really makes a difference to how well you can do in your second year.
